My car is thermostat controlled and as such, the fan comes on only when the engine is "hot". How does this help cooling the transmission?
Your initial design by vehicle manufacturer is to use liquid (in this case COOLANT) to extract heat from your transmission oil whenever it passes through coolant in the radiator. So anytime radiator fan start, it means the rate of heat extraction will be fast than before because air flow through radiator extract the heat and it depend on your speed at a given time.
When external oil cooler is use, air flow will do the job of cooling and the rate will still depend on speed, but immediately fan start its operation, the rate of cooling will increase. So if your thermostat kick in fan operation, then this will till aid cooling as normal.

Thank you for this.

I want to change that thing that made the coolant and gear oil mixed.

I have experienced this in the past. Your rewire needs to check the IVtech sensor at the back of the engine, left hand side. It might be clogged or needs replacement
Thanks. Replacing the ivtec sensor solved the problem

Hello everyone,

Is 144km on 24liters fair for a 2009 corrolla, or the car is consuming fuel, majorly in city drive in lagos.

Good morning Guys.

Please I need solid recommendations on good/durable tyres to buy (whether Toks or brank new). Location is Abuja pls. Thanks

Car tire size : 195/65r15 91v
Also can I buy a size slightly higher than this to help raise my honda civic a bit, cuz the ground clearance is quite low?

That is good. Note it now that you just extend the reoccurrence of the leakage with time. By design location, the seal filter tend to flat with time and allow oil leakage.

I think your car is consuming much. I just compared with Accord 014. City driving with traffic & lotta traffic lights.

Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by fineboynl(m): 6:53pm On Jul 14, 2024
My car vibrate when accelerating. It use to be very lite during on lower gear. But I think it's now more prominent. It's just drive rough when that vibration.

Could this be shaft?

Although still managing it like this. Will this cause the leg to pull if I continue managing it like this?

Check your shaft cup, the grease may have been washed out by the flood.

Also check your bushings and other parts not tight or slightly loose.

Your breakdisk can also cause the vibration.

Check all of these, am sure on of them will be the culprit.

I never said it was leaking.
There was never an oil leakage.
The sensor just primarily failed to raise the car beyond 80km/per hour.

Well, this post are for those saying a cheap scanner can’t scan gear, I remember we had an argument about it long ago, I assured that a cheap original ELM 327 Bluetooth scanner works perfectly with Hondas.
This morning I had the dreaded blinking “D” but no check Engine light.
Used the scanner and it brought out the transmission code, will be replacing it tomorrow .

before seeing you post. It turns out the driver site tyre has cut threads. and the tyre lost shap. We change the tyre and the wheel hub which was affected. The vibration reduced and it now only happens at first acceleration but once the car take off it stops. I also noticed some shake at hard braking.

Awesome improvement.
For the vibration at first acceleration, you need to check the thyroid for clearance.
Also, for the vibration at hard braking, check the brake disc.

Another trick, let your mech sandpaper the brake disc surface and the surface where u have the studs.

Try this and let's know if it resolves the issue.

What's the repair history of the car?
I asked because of the timing code.
A live data would give you a clearer picture of what's wrong with the car and why it's consuming fuel.

When you say "live data" do you mean high end scanner or real time physical inspection?

Live data stream from a professional scanner. It gives a real time information of what each sensor and solenoids are doing.
Different from scanning for fault codes.
