franvincoop:I leave in Ghana for 5 years back in 2009 electricity was stable so I am not saying it is impossible but Burkina Faso do not have 24 hrs electricity. The point is do not just come post lies just to justify where your sentiments lies. I will praise the dictator when I see stats of his achievements. |

Racoon:Seems as if you don't know that he can't be challenged on any decision he takes. In as much as we agree that Africa needs a revolution,we should be careful not to tolerate fellow Africans who will behave exactly like the Western opportunists. Or worse. We've seen situations like this before where one leader claims to be a revolutionist then he begins to see himself as the only one capable of leading. Then one begins to ask what the difference is between them and the Western oppressors. Africa needs to thread carefully. |

SadiqBabaSani:How long did the military take power? What progress did they make? How much progress was made in 63 years by the French? Africa's biggest problem is shedding the colonial mentality. |

Lionessza6:That is my concern - the willful ignorance. If you're in Nigeria and you want military rule, you have IBB and Abacha for reference. If you're in RSA and you want a Malema, you have Mugabe for reference. Is it that people can't read or add 2 and 2 together? Beyond stupid! |

JuanDeDios:I never said we should accept anything in replacement. Hope you know there are other systems of Govt aside Democracy. China is doing well under communism. &a Dictator does not have to be military man. |

OBIDIENTNAIJA:I was born in early 80s so I will like to know what you enjoyed? So for starters someone in late 80s cannot say he enjoyed anything since you were a baby then with zero sense as a baby. IBB became president in 85 and then you were probably not born since you were born in late 80s. He started SAP then he was extremely corrupt leader called chop I chop…lol things started falling apart from his time because the naira started devaluing and then abacha took over things got from bad to worst. The point is the only people that can say they enjoyed Nigeria should be 60s and 70s not late 80s because by the time you had small sense Nigeria was already in a mess created by the so called military men. |

| Re: The Revolutionary Strides Of President Ibrahim Traore Of Burkina Faso by Lionessza6(f): 10:42am On Jul 13, 2024 |
JuanDeDios:Absolutely maddening. I think some people are so desperate to cut off the chains from the West that now people are seeking any solutions, including demonic ones like giving one man and state unwarranted rights over everyone in our respective countries ). The West wouldn't be parading him this much if he was going to *save* the people of Burkina Faso. We would have to search very hard for information about him if they thought he was truly going to transform that place. |

Racoon:This is horse shit. A revolution can not be successful without first dialogue with the people whose interest you represent. You can not carry out revolution on behalf of the oppressed without them being part of it. Without the oppressed being the main actor in it. If you take over power with your colleagues who were part of those that build the system in which you based your revolutionary idea on then nothing as changed. The only change here is replacing one oppressor with a new clique of oppressor. Just like when APC wrestled power from PDP. |

GanagiBitrus:Agreed the likes of China and UAE have made fantastic progress under totalitarian systems. But I think you're missing the fact that a country can be democratic and still make fantastic progress (Read about post-WW2-Germany and India under Gao. Even Western countries are a good example). Living in a country that does well in terms of development is something we all want, but is that ALL you want? Basic freedoms don't matter? You think it's okay for the government to be thinking for you and regulating how you live your private life? What business you can do? What websites you can surf? You think FG should have the power to stop you from using Nairaland? The second point you're not considering is the fact that dictatorship doesn't guarantee development. That's why you have basket case hell-on-earths like North Korea, Eritrea, Sudan, etc. So why not opt for a system that can produce both development and basic freedoms? |
| Re: The Revolutionary Strides Of President Ibrahim Traore Of Burkina Faso by Lionessza6(f): 10:47am On Jul 13, 2024 |
GanagiBitrus:Then let the black people who feel that way move to China for some "nice" communism . Don't try to rope us all into that shytholic system of oppression, we are enjoying our rights (even though we are still struggling) ....but living under a dictatorship is a big fckn NO!. We don't want to be moving around like programmed zombies so that our government can get rich and powerful whilst we lose any form of rights to our properties ,family etc. |

GanagiBitrus:Lol how are they doing well? Do you know how many Chinese that are in Mexico border trying to cross to US? The current president took over from someone but as soon as he came in he scattered the table…lol He removed term limits. Like I said Absolute power corrupt. China has made a lot of progress but it doesn’t mean that one president have all the answers. |
| Re: The Revolutionary Strides Of President Ibrahim Traore Of Burkina Faso by GanagiBitrus: 10:48am On Jul 13, 2024 |
JuanDeDios:In all honesty, do you think we have made significant progress as a Nation under democracy? |
| Re: The Revolutionary Strides Of President Ibrahim Traore Of Burkina Faso by dettolgel: 10:48am On Jul 13, 2024 |
Eriokanmi:I think you are mixing up issues here. Dubai and Burkina are two different issue. That of Dubai was about investment and the issue about Burkina is about military rule. To clear you on something about Dubai, the west built Dubai they sank their investment in there and it paid off because they wanted it that way. Dubai and the Emirates are free from terrorism and internal crisis because of the west. So please you should look into how Dubai was developed who were the contractors and the expatriates there and who has the long term contracts for infrastructure maintenance and likewise the service industries there. Follow the money and you will find out why that place is the way it is. Don't let anyone fool you bro. |

GanagiBitrus:me too I will be very happy. We all want the good of the country. I will not praise a dictator with zero stats to show how he has improved Burkina Faso. They always try to whip sentiment lol by using the west as a scapegoat. |
| Re: The Revolutionary Strides Of President Ibrahim Traore Of Burkina Faso by Lionessza6(f): 10:54am On Jul 13, 2024 |
GanagiBitrus:Re-read what JuanDedios posted again, this time forget about Nigeria and her issues. Focus on the debate about Communist nations vs Democratic ones. ( you're letting your personal issues and experiences with Nigeria cloud your judgement on this issue). There's no system that can guarantee you progress. We have too many communist shytholes and too many democratic shytholes . But one thing is for sure, there are more Democratic successes than communist success stories. And there are reasons why you hardly see people moving from Democratic nations to communist ones. |

| Re: The Revolutionary Strides Of President Ibrahim Traore Of Burkina Faso by JuanDeDios: 10:57am On Jul 13, 2024 |
GanagiBitrus:In terms of development, no, we have not. At least, not the kind of progress we should have made. But, again, dictatorship set us back. After independence, we only had 5 years before soldiers stopped us. By the time democracy fully returned in 1999, we had a country completely destroyed by the military, with corruption fully institutionalised and woven into every fabric of our national life. Unfortunately, the elected leaders have continued where the military stopped. Back in the 1960s, if a politician gives you a contract, he will collect 10% of the sum as kickback. But what do we have today? He can pocket the whole money. Today's system was created by the military. The solution, we continue with democracy since we can, at least, come on Nairaland and Twitter to abuse Tinubu and Umahi to our heart's content and expose what we can. Sometimes, the authorities will listen and act. Small small progress - that's all we can get for now. This is better than a system that robs you and won't even let you complain. Hopefully, we will someday get a president that knows what he's doing and there's be a turnaround. |
