Then let the black people who feel that way move to China for some "nice" communism grin. Don't try to rope us all into that shytholic system of oppression, we are enjoying our rights (even though we are still struggling) ....but living under a dictatorship is a big fckn NO!. We don't want to be moving around like programmed zombies so that our government can get rich and powerful whilst we lose any form of rights to our properties ,family etc.
You sound like a Modern Parent that will give his kids plenty of liberty, unlike our older generation parents. grin

Na that Obi Dey funny me pass. A man who couldn’t conduct LG elections as an 8-year Governor wanted to rule Nigeria as a federal unit.
He can’t commend the Supreme Court verdict because it’s going to be a big owngoal for him grin
You are talking like a kid. This LG thing is stale try and look for something else. He will definitely talk about it, you people should stop salivating over PO, your plans to make him appear unattractive to the electorate against 2007 has failed. Your bullshit can be sniffed a mile away.

Re-read what JuanDedios posted again, this time forget about Nigeria and her issues. Focus on the debate about Communist nations vs Democratic ones. ( you're letting your personal issues and experiences with Nigeria cloud your judgement on this issue).

There's no system that can guarantee you progress. We have too many communist shytholes and too many democratic shytholes . But one thing is for sure, there are more Democratic successes than communist success stories. And there are reasons why you hardly see people moving from Democratic nations to communist ones.

In terms of development, no, we have not. At least, not the kind of progress we should have made.

But, again, dictatorship set us back. After independence, we only had 5 years before soldiers stopped us. By the time democracy fully returned in 1999, we had a country completely destroyed by the military, with corruption fully institutionalised and woven into every fabric of our national life. Unfortunately, the elected leaders have continued where the military stopped. Back in the 1960s, if a politician gives you a contract, he will collect 10% of the sum as kickback. But what do we have today? He can pocket the whole money. Today's system was created by the military.

The solution, we continue with democracy since we can, at least, come on Nairaland and Twitter to abuse Tinubu and Umahi to our heart's content and expose what we can. Sometimes, the authorities will listen and act. Small small progress - that's all we can get for now. This is better than a system that robs you and won't even let you complain. Hopefully, we will someday get a president that knows what he's doing and there's be a turnaround.
👍

My point exactly is this: The west creates unrest in your country once u dont align with them except u are very strong and have strong allies. This is a known fact. They will create unrest by creating groups against ur govt. I never said they created IPOB. But know that no unrest is without a strong backing by govt or non state actors.
Keep Blaming the west but you have not told us who is freeing repentant boko haram? Is it the west?

Yes, let's hand flowers to the character that saw a problem and rather than use his brains fired a bullet at it. Let's re-name Abuja airport after the fellow that led the putsch that murdered our Prime Minister and other senior elected leaders. After all, his revolution ushered in military rule, which transformed Nigeria to a working country. Geniuses you and Nzeogwu.

More than 50% of uranium deposit is located in just 3 countries,Australia, Kazakhstan, and Canada. No African country can compete with any of those 3 countries in terms of uranium deposit.

I wont be surprise if you're also accusing some people in far away continents of creating Boko Haram and IPOB in Nigeria
Why not mention Niger is fourth on the list? ... why cut off at #3? ... isn't Niger in the competition and can move to fourth? Why not mention cobalt deposits in the DRC? Why not mention iridium ... more valuable than gold ... very rare ... very much needed for cutting edge technology... why not mention almost exclusively mined in South Africa?.... why not mention found in abundance in Haiti? Haiti's President was assassinated ... what have you heard about Haiti since?... that it is over run by gangs. Did you not hear the UN Peace keeping force is there?... but didn't hear they were protecting US companies from digging and fetching out the iridium. You should really wonder why their President was assassinated. You should really wonder why Burkina Faso will be fighting terrorists and who are the sponsors. You should wonder why terrorists are causing havoc in countries that have mineral resources that the West wants to control and extract. Younshould wonder why Idi Amin kicked non Africans out of Uganda and try to find out what he did for his people instead of what the West said about him.

You have spoken the truth here.
Always blaming the west for our own leaders actions and inactions.
In just a short time Zambia, Angola,Kenya, Congo, Ethiopia let alone Nigeria are hugely indebted to China with little or nothing to show for it in terms of progress.
Very soon now na China them go dey blame for their failures.

I think you are mixing up issues here. Dubai and Burkina are two different issue. That of Dubai was about investment and the issue about Burkina is about military rule.

To clear you on something about Dubai, the west built Dubai they sank their investment in there and it paid off because they wanted it that way.

Dubai and the Emirates are free from terrorism and internal crisis because of the west. So please you should look into how Dubai was developed who were the contractors and the expatriates there and who has the long term contracts for infrastructure maintenance and likewise the service industries there. Follow the money and you will find out why that place is the way it is. Don't let anyone fool you bro.
You're not getting my point. Nobody is fooling me. I was only harping on people's perceptions about issues when they come up. Some don't believe anything meaningful could happen, until it eventually happens. I used dubai as an example. I have a documentary book about dubai. How US and Co first faulted their plans. Some said nothing good could come out of a desert, saying its a waste of resources. UAE first sank their oil money in the development of Dubai, not the west. Which west would go to the Arab countries to invest in those days? Their presence in saudi was because of their oil. The west, especially Germans came after they saw that they were making huge progress. UAE went and signed an agreement with them on infrastrucal development. Saudi Arabia, the US ally also stayed aloof. Now, Saudi is trying to promote tourism too, after seeing UAE prosper.

That said, those military Juntas aren't saying they'd be there for life. I've read widely about them. They'd still leave but not until after sanity and some structures are in place. West isn't doing africa any good bro. It's not good to start condemning juntas until after they're done with their plans of rebuilding their countries. Military in Nigeria was a disaster. They had every opportunity to make Nigeria great but everyone was fighting for their selfish interest, just as we have today. Amazingly it's still same people in government today.

Read about Jerry rawlings of Ghana. Maybe you'd have a different opinion. The same west criticised him african leaders and activists weren't left out. See Ghana today, their gdp has left ours behind. It's not magic bro. When last did you see Ghanaians whom we call ejika ni shop last (those carrying sewing machines upon their shoulders and moving around to mend clothes)? They've all returned home.

This is different from having the state parent adults by getting in involved in their personal spaces, family decisions and finances shocked.....now that's a form of slavery grin. Keep dreaming about military government. You Igbo youths will not learn. FYI, Ibrahim Traoré is failing big time in his job and it has been reported the military 🪖 is very uncomfortable. There were gunshot inside presidential Palace recently that shook the nation and he didn't come to public for two days. Territories in the North has been taken by bandits and security in the country have generally worsened. Keep painting rosy picture, that won't change the fact.

Emergingnation:
Flashback: How Bola Tinubu spoke highly of Buhari in 2015, named PDP ‘Poverty Development Party

National leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu had during the presidential campaign in 2015, referred to President Muhammadu Buhari as the only solution for the security and economic challenges facing Nigeria.

During a mega presidential rally, the former governor of Lagos State recalled how some powerful nations in the world returned to army generals when they were challenged, saying “Major General Buhari would revive Nigeria’s economy”.

He named the current opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP as the “Poverty Development Party saying they had nothing to offer.

His words at the time were; “Every nation has a period of their own challenges, when America was challenged, they turned to one great man, their ex-military general, General Eisenhower. When the French were challenged, they turned to their general, Charles de Gaulle.

“When Britain was challenged, they turned to their general. Today, Nigeria is economically and physically challenged so we turn to General Muhammadu Buhari. He is the right man for the job. If you talk about military experience, he has it abundantly, he has courage, simplicity, he has it abundantly.

“If you talk about great determination, a combination of vision and ability to perform, honesty and integrity, he has it abundantly.

“I laugh when the incapable government, ‘Poverty Development Party’ PDP were talking. They have nothing again to say, they now want to question the qualifications of General Buhari and look for his certificate”.

Following the manifestos in 2015 which projected the APC presidential candidate as a ‘saviour’, Buhari defeated the then incumbent president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan with Nigerians expecting a total change in security and economy.
