No, but at least it will be easy for the masses to stone them than the governor with bullet proof cars

most of the Governors are thieves we are battling them now local government chairmen will join the thiefing business
See Nigerians here pretending to be outraged by all of the thievery that has been going on yet we never hear or read of any calls for their impeachment, and prosecution. undecided

Tinubu will not withhold it, the Govs are a powerful unit so much that when they gang up, it is almost impossible to beat them.

The best Tinubu will do is give them time before the end of the year to conduct LG elections.
Amateur analysts
First not all governors can gang up against Tinubu. Lagos, benue, kaduna, ebony, imo, ekiti, kwara, borno etc will never gang against tinubu

Secondly if they want to play gang up game, it will turn against them simply because their own people will gang up against them for not giving them opportunity to enjoy what others are enjoying and for holding on to power and the media will do their work. It will end up unseating them.

Thirdly is that no amount of gang up can stop Tinubu 4years.

Fourth Tinubu is going to the grass-roots and that is where vote count not in governors office

My only problem with Tinubu is that he puts his ambition first in every good policy he is making. Every of his policy secures his second time bid. Don't be surprised if igbo vote Tinubu massively. Let us create another state in the east first

The problem is joint account, not this. Think guys
Re: Following States Will Not Receive FAAC Allocations For Their LG By July Ending by Kobojunkie:
WantsandMore:

Wrong! The joint account is not the problem and never has been. The problem has always been politicians/officials overstepping their bounds and doing that which they have no authority to do. They knew this— it is clearly indicated in the Constitution that they have no authority to take from the LG account, but they did it anyway. The Governors had no authority granted them by law to dip into the LG account to begin with. Governors were only tasked with maintaining the accounts— keeping them alive— and making deposits into the accounts regularly. The moment the governors took to dipping into the accounts, they violated the law. undecided

Shutting down the joint account is not the way to stop the criminal Governors from stealing from it or the pockets of the State either. Instead, you catch the thieves, impeach them, and prosecute them, making an example of him so others who come after them would know the law is not silent on such criminality. undecided

10 states are APC states, so this has nothing to do with politics.
It has everything to do with politics. Firstly, the hasty way they went about it is because of Rivers State where Wike wants to remain in control. Secondly, the drug lord is looking for loopholes where he can have direct access to LGA’s and bypass governors that may not be in support of him.

Anytime these criminals implement any policy with unusual speed, just know it’s never for the benefit of the masses, but for their own benefit.

WIth FG now directly connected to all 774 LGs, things have only just gotten a lot messier for those who may be looking to untangle the web of corruption in the country. undecided

It’s also going to worsen corruption, bigotry and violence. Politicians or moneybags will simply sponsor their candidates with promise of returns on investments, knowing they are going to be in control of funds without any checks and balances. It will also become a battle between governors, senators, ministers and presidents as to whose candidates will emerge victorious.

Just like changing the national anthem and other policies by Tinubu, I do not see how this will benefit Nigeria or Nigerians. They’ve only succeeded in diversifying looting down to the grassroots. Many people do not even know who the local government chairmen are in their domains. Talk more of knowing how they’re running their affairs.

The welfare of Nigerians is never the concern of Tinubu, all he wants is how to perpetuate himself & survive against his unpopularity. His intention is to control the 774 LGA chairmen & use EFCC to intimidate those that fail to fall in line.

Supreme Court of justice under justice Ariwoola did extremely well on the LG Autonomy case in the Supreme Court of justice
The spineless and corrupt supreme court didn't nothing. Its the directive of the president and for once he followed the expectations of majority of Nigerians and not few APC stalwarts.
Hopefully he sends a bill to National assembly scrapping SIEC and giving INEC powers to conduct LG elections

The funds is for the LGAs and not for the chairman,so the federal government would be wrong withholding money due to a tier of government that is constitutionally recognized

if they do ,they would be accountable to their people and EFCC, thank God,they don't have immunity from being prosecuted ,this arrangement is better than having a governor dealing with the local government fund as if he likes.

The Governors that have been stealing from both LG accounts and state accounts are not accountable to the people? Really? undecided

The people can easily call on their senators and reps in the State Assembly to have their Governors impeached and prosecuted but they have mostly refused to do so to date. So, what makes you think the same people would do that in the case of the LGs? It is like Nigerians prefer to piss down their own backs on behalf of their criminal politicians or something. undecided

That is not the Law. That is instead the illegal —unconstitutional — idea your FG has come up with to take control of the LGs for itself. undecided

seemed you don't understand what the law means, the recent supreme court decisions on the LG autonomy is the law until same is either reverse or review by the same court, the Court has interpreted the relevant sections of the constitution to mean direct payment to LGs and that no
election no fund to the LGs

This is about logic and common sense, it's like you're saying which one is better between relating with your class Rep and the SUG president, would you prefer to be getting your needs and entitlements from the class Rep or the SUG president , who may not even know you in person, if your bursary forms or handouts is given to the class Rep, there is high probability that every members of the class's interest would be more protected than giving it to SUG president that probably has other things to attend to, and remember it's called federal system of government for a reason.

Wrong! The Supreme Court is not the Law of the land. Rather the Constitution is the Supreme Law of the Land and it does not grant the FG direct access to the Local Governments. The Supreme Law of the Land maintains a direct separation of concerns between the FG, State, and LG by way of what is currently defined. None of the 3 branches directly interact at all. Rather, funds are deposited into an account which is then distributed by the National and State Houses of Assembly undecided

It is wrong to insist that the court interpret the Constitution. Rather, in an attempt to resolve an issue of illegality, the Supreme Court chose to put forth ideas that directly contravene the Supreme Law of the Land. Essentially, the Supreme Court, by giving the FG this go-ahead (supposedly) completely ignored the contents of subsections 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 of section 162 of the Nigerian Constitution. How much more against the Constitution can that get? undecided

Every time your government circumvented the Constitution— attempted to resolve an illegality by way of another illegality— it has always ended worse for the Nigerian people. And your government has been digging many such holes, back to back, for the last 25 years of this democracy. The ones who have almost always come out at the top every time though are the many criminals in government. I am talking about those who committed the initial illegalities and those who attempted to use illegal means to resolve problems — or at least claimed that was their intention. It never works out for the Nigerian people, and it is no different this time either. undecided

local government chairman is closer to the locals than the governor, they don't have any excuse not to perform now, they also don't have immunity like the governor so if they deal anyhow with people's fund ,they go see anyhow ,not every local people can find their way to the state capital to meet the governor but the local people can relate with their LG chairmen freely, remember that the money we are talking about here is in billions of naira oo.

You know that not all State Governors are guilt of pillaging State accounts. However, you will scarcely find any LG Council that has responsibly carried out even 1/3rd of its Fourth Schedule Functions in the past 25 years. How many times have you heard of the people in the Local Government sacking and prosecuting any of their LG Chairmans for embezzlement? undecided
