BB Phones: Apt Illustration Of Jesus Saying About The Earth And It's Treasures

Jesus warned us not to lay up our treasures on this earth because they would later lose their value and fade away. Matthew 6:19-21

I doubt there's any better illustration of an earthly treasure, once very hot, trendy and valuable, later fading away as the blackberry phones.

There used to be a time when blackberry phones was to the world what the iPhone is today.

It used to be the blackberry phone that was used to distinguish between the high class and low class.

It was the phone brand being used by several presidents, including that of the USA at the time. I can remember when Barack Obama was asked what his blackberry meant to him as the president of the USA.

It was also the blackberry phones that a certain set of ladies were doing what they do with the iphones now, where their boyfriends cannot dare buy them any other phone gifts except the latest or most trendy models of the phone, otherwise they'd face rejection.

The level of craze for the blackberry phones also led to blackberry themed songs and movies, for instance, "Blackberry bold 10" among others.

But fast forward to today, several years later, the blackberry phone now seems like a curse.

No one really wants to be associated with it.

Even the once almighty Blackberry passport now seems an embarrassment to carry publicly.

That's a perfect illustration of how something once highly treasured on this earth could fade away and fail man.

That's why Jesus taught us not to lay up our treasures on this earth, but in heaven when they could never fail or fade away.

Matthew 6:19-20 (KJV)

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

Jesus also taught us that the earth, including all its treasures, will pass away, but His Words shall never pass away.

Matthew 24:35 (KJV)

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Hence why we ought to invest our lives on His Words instead of the treasures of this earth, because the earth and all of its treasures were temporal, but the Words of Jesus are eternal and abides forever.

You're right, everything will pass away. But thinking the Israeli mythology you believe in is exempt, is delusion.

Zeus, Ra, Jupiter, Apollo, Odin and many thousands more, were all gods worshipped by millions. They also had priests promising eternal life in some imaginary paradise. Today, they have been confined to fiction.

Yahweh will eventually take his place there when more people embrace reality and do away with imported fairytales, as you will remember, everything passes away.

I pray this hardship fades away too.

Such is life; get with the times or fall by the wayside.

Well nothing stays forever!

Even the iPhones that many treasure now would also soon pass away, but the Words of Jesus would never pass away.

The eternal Words of Jesus is the greatest treasure on this Earth.

I remember my Blackberry Passport breaking into shatters.

We will fade away as humans, but humanity remains. We should be humble and stop putting others down. Showing off will only lead to regret and sadness in old age, and then death. If only we could live with love, respect, humility, and peace, the world will be a better place.

Once upon a time it was chariots and horses, today you talk about cars and jets. Please why has the church of England and the catholic church refused to release artifacts worth billions back to Africa, or the tons of gold held by France and their ilks whi h was exploited from Africa?

As much as this Bible passage in Matthew is important, we must also act wisely. Work hard to make yourself and family comfortable, but also engage in God's service through works of kindness, act of service, giving encouraging words, and connecting deeply with God.

The moment you feel you've attended a certain of comfort in life, do more in the service of God. Don't store up unnecessary wealth like politicians do. Train your children in a manner that they'll also create a good life for themselves. Remember, you've laid a good foundation for them already. So, there's no need accumulating wealth for them.

Storing up treasure in heaven doesn't mean you should live poorly on earth, satisfying everyone around you and ignoring yourself and family.
