Yes I understand but you they over think am
These people are family, they know Ibime is capable that's why he did but I am sure after the warning he won't do it again
And if after he repeat it then otilo, na straight blocking
The bold is the problem with Nigerians and Africans in general. How can u be so sure someone is capable or not?

We usually assume on people’s behalf that their money is so long that no amount of billing can make them broke grin.

U will see a senior manager with a big SUV that he’s paying for through monthly deductions from his salary and be telling urself ignorantly that “ if this alaye can buy this jeep, money don Dey him hand be that o”

U see a principal manager who got mortgage which he uses to purchase a flat at Chevy estate Lekki and u assume he has arrived . U don’t know senior man will pay for that house for the next 20 years through regular deduction of his salary o.

If such person manage to Dey do for u as family , it is a grave sin for u to be sharing that person’s contact to others to bill him too na .

Was it not you that said sabinus flaunted his wealth yesterday even though I don't see anything wrong with having it and showing it

What I mean by capable is that he can help not necessarily the whole money but some part or offer him advice, yes it's an entitlement we should stop

Calm down
Look at the bright side, to get passport is very easy than before
Before you have to pay almost 50k upwards to get it on time
Now you can get it within a month
I got mine in just 2 weeks even though I delayed to collect
If a system is working breaking some promises I don't see the big deal
That's why people hardly tackle Lagos past and present governors, we know them they chop money but are they working

I really don't know what to say about Ibimes matter because the fact of the matter is things are very very hard right now for most people and getting worse. It's easy for us to say Ibimes benefactor should have been wiser but the fact is he may have seen his relative in a truly desperate situation and at the end of his rope with all possible sources of support and assistance tapped out.

At this point you are stuck between pragmatism and humanism. Be pragmatic and survive your issue while watching your relative die or be humanist and cut yourself off.

There may be no easy answers

I wanted to say this too, we don't know the story the other guy told ibeme benefactor to drop number and according to him the guy doesn't have his number meaning this is probably the first time of asking.
It could also be his last hope as things are getting more difficult

I didn’t say he should cut ties with him, I only said he should stop giving him money ni . 🤷‍♂️

He can be praying for him, giving him advice and giving him guidance on how to be a better person. But he should stop giving him money.

Let him go out there, hustle and let’s see if he will be sharing his own hard earned money like Ibime was doing for him. Let’s see if he will even give his money to the other relative he gave Ibime’s number to.

Let’s even forget about money/billing issue sef, it’s actually not right to be giving people’s contact out without their expressed permission.

Personally, I won’t give ur number out to anybody if I’m not sure u won’t to speak with that person(either as a friend or relative ).
have you wondered if the contact was stolen without the victim's knowledge??

This has happened b4.....Ibime should just ask d victim how d guy got his contact then take action from there....

Leave BlueRayDick make e dey do like Field Marshall.

The way he just immediately decided to cancel the relative is funny.

The fact that he is young sef is a good reason for me to caution him about abusing privileges

Don't focus too much on that young part. Young is relative. If you are 30 years old you are young to me, but that does not excuse foolish moves.

It is not an automatic cancellable offense, but it can be one, depending on other factors like how close we are personally and in terms of blood, and how notorious/obnoxious the person you gave my number to is.

Why do I need to wonder if he stole the contact when Ibime said he gave the number out ?

Go and read Ibime’s post again. There’s no need to input things he didn’t say in his post

On this topic, In recent memory I’ve been in both positions: as the biller and also as the one getting billed.

As at 2014, I was a student in Uni broke as a joke without a tip in my cup. Would call my uncle who was an Oil worker in PHC and he would send money but with increasing resentment and aggression. At some point, I decided this was not feasible anymore to beg 3 weeks for 5k and still receive insults on top. I started looking for any hustle I could do:

- I did scholarship applications for Niger Delta youths.
- I worked as a factory hand in the evening at a pure water factory.

I even landed a web design gig through someone I met on Nairaland. Then started writing paid articles and all these helped pad my CV like mad when I was out of school and needed to find a job.

A month ago, I sent my uncle a token of appreciation. If he never "cancelled" me, i would still be a brokie and a dependent. Mental dependency is a disease.

Make Ibime relative hustle, hustle no dey kill young man. Ibime may actually be hampering him by being charitable even with good intentions

I feel like you are getting the wrong impression. Just because that young man gets financial assistance from ibime doesn't mean he is not hustling as well.

100%. Someone on this forum once contacted me to lament inability to pay his school fees. I helped him out, only for the guy to contact me around Christmas time to ask me to send him Christmas money to use for celebration.

You get it from both points of view. Everyone has decisions to make and resource is scarce. He is only privy to a small percentage of the billings I receive, most of which I turn down while trying to make decisions on which billings are most pertinent, he can't put himself in my shoes not to increase my burden with others needs which are far from my circumference of consideration.

We are talking about a 24 year old boy who I share great-great-great grandfather with, I only took him under my wing because my grandmother adopted him as a child, so he is closer in relation now. He now goes giving my number to a 38 year old on his side of the family (distant distant relative) because he has pressing need, he no respect me at all.

When you dey bill someone you have to put yourself in their shoes, because there are many in need and very few to meet that need. I received a billing I respected so much from a relative because he contacted me 3 weeks from payday and he said bro, I have this pressing need, I would like you to put me in your budget for next month payday. That is instant recognition that the person you are billing has decisions to make and a limited budget, and that guy is not one that sends bills, hardly ever. It was very respectful and understanding that there is a sacrifice being made with every bill.
