Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved the appointment of new emirs for the Gaya, Karaye, and Rano Emirates.

The announcement was made through a statement by the Director General, Media and Publicity to the governor, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

The newly appointed emirs are Alhaji Muhammad Maharaz Karaye, who will lead the Karaye Emirate, Alhaji Muhammad Isa Umar, who will head the Rano Emirate, and Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir Gaya, who has been reinstated as the emir of Gaya Emirate.

The governor congratulated the new emirs and charged them to promote culture, peace, and unity in their respective emirates. The appointments take effect immediately.

This development follows the passage of the Kano State Emirate Council establishment bill by the Kano Assembly and the governor’s assent to the bill, leading to the creation of three second-class emirates.

Governor Yusuf on Tuesday said that the establishment of the emirates recognizes the importance of traditional institutions and demonstrates the government’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage.

Governance is not easy, you can only imagine the type of pressure that the governor is getting from external and powerful forces for him to revert back to the old Balkanized Setting.

Traditional chieftancy under democracy is the start of the woes!

When law makers are empowered to choose traditional rulers and choose where their rulership subsist, wetin remain?

This governor is confused and incompetent. this was what I wrote here several weeks ago he should have done.There is no need reinstating sanusi as emir and dissolving other Emirates created by Ganduje.He should have simply dethroned the emir not loyal to him and face the business governance in Kano.

The country seems to be like a theater. Our politicians are the cast and the common men, the spectators on whose wealth and sweat it was built. The spectators pay to watch the play but do not have power of say, they do not write the story but they could watch and enjoy the play, laughing at the course of it or just be indifferent about it. The cast write a story to suit their explanations, suit other cast and to protect their enterprises in the theater.

Just imagine if all these were happening in the southeast, a certain people from a certain region in Nigeria would have been insulting the entire Igbos, you will hear and see words like:

They can't even rule themselves and they want to rule Nigeria or an .... man is an ..... man's worst enemy, they hate themselves, now it is happening in the north, they are all quiet...

So who is the Emir of Kano now
That's what we want to know

The policy thrust of the Kano State Government is clear and commendable:Kano, like Ibadan has grown too big for a single traditional ruler to preside over! The Emir of Kano will become as influential as the KNSG and that should be discouraged.

He didn't for see the outcome of their initial plan of bringing Sanusi and cancelling the now reinstated Emirates. He didn't know there was going to be a federal might behind Ado Bayero. He did all he could and it's obvious now he's helpless. I strongly believe this is one of the conditions given to him. For me, if you don't like Bayero, remove him without reverting to thr old that you are now going back and forth. We wait to see if Ado Bayero will now be left in the cold.

We have never heard anything from Kano for over one year except Emirs.
The North has a way if keeping themselves usy unwarranted.
