We r indeed our own problem. I think it's high time d govt setup a taskforce and or a regulatory compliance agency to regulate prices of foodstuffs across d country. This is nothing but sabotage of government effort to bring about better to Nigerians!

You can just imagine!

When we say the retailers are one of the problems we're having in this economic crisis, this is one of the evidence.
i waa telling someone this yesterday he was saying it's not so...why is it that just 100 naira will be added to price of 10 packs of spaghetti, you a retailer got home and increased ur price with 100 naira each ...plus those other women in the market should be arrested,it's a free economy..not a fixed market ..also this union things is the major reason why Southwest, Yorubaland has been retrogressive for over 40 years now .

When I saw the headline I knew it will be among the Yorubas, they are the worst when it comes to these price hiking within market, I have seen where they closed barber shops or stopping pepper sellers from selling below association price, this is not even now I mean far back GEJ's time....

This has nothing to do with retailers as most people are commenting here, I noticed it is just the Yoruba way of their market and business, that is why some of them hate Igbo and Hausa traders because those ones allow competition within themselves..
I know there will definitely be an unfortunate he- goat that will make it about tribe. 😂

When I was in Benin, na every month fellow igbos dey kill the Igbos that dare sell their electronics at a cheaper price around that New Benin/Ring Road. That's how one of my friend's husband was killed in 2016.

If she is a producer and sales cheaper then it's bad market practice

But if she also buys and sales then it's business
It's not a problem, let her just get an online presence and sell....she would even sell faster than being in a physical market

Instead of fighting her, buy hers very cheap and when she has run out of supply, start selling at profit. Thats how open market works and not this occultic arrangement.
Lolz. They won't do that. They're finding theirs difficult to sell while she sells hers easily hence the envy.

Honestly, when I see people insulting our political leaders and all that,I only laugh.....Cuz the heart of an average Nigerian is even filled up with more wickedness that you can ever imagine....

Now tell me,is this not a pure definition of heartlessness? Some people are only out to make lives more difficult for their fellow humans..
Honestly,Nigerians are very wicked people

The funniest part is that those women assaulting her might be the victims.
I had a crazy experience. I have someone that do help me to carry goods, he charges me ₦200 but charge his acquaintance ₦50, I sell mine with a margin of ₦100, while the acquaintance sells for a margin of ₦150, yet people think I'm always over charging because my selling price is higher despite the lower profit I'm getting.
If I belong to a group and not expose, I might have acted like those women.

this is normal practice in nigeria. associations fix price of goods especially consumables that is why the forces of demand and supply dont work in nigeria. associations force their members not to sell below a certain price

Unfortunately, this rubbish is in every nook and cranny of the Nigerian society.

Artisans dare not do a job for anyone at a price lesser than what "the association" stipulates. Else, heavy fine awaits you.

I remember in my final year. Student union went to connive with our lecturers not to allow us write exams until we pay SUG due. Money that they were looting and spending on smoking, clubbing and alcohol.

What's worse is that these associations have no benefit that their members (especially the weak and younger ones) enjoy from them. For example, despite paying huge dues to NURTW, their leaders won't ever support them when they're harassed by the police. Instead they'll blame them and ask them to "settle" the officers.

That said, this doesn't mean absolve our political leaders of their crime in looting us. It only shows that corruption and wickedness have been institutionalized in our society.

Tomorrow now, these wicked market women will give someone a Congo of garri and people will be hailing them, not knowing that they're only spending 0.01% of their loot.
The SUG president who tried it in our time was taught the lesson of his life.

While the rich don't want to take it easy on the poor, the poor does not want to take it easy on their selves. Nigerians are indeed greedy and selfish sets of human beings.
