Their problem is they've seen Tinubu as infallible and a perfect person. That was why I asked one this morning that if Tinubu didn't defect from AD to AC, then Tinubu must have gone on transfer or secondment. How would a party they claimed that merged still field candidates with the same platform in the general elections. Many of them suspend their IQ for politicians and not ready to loose from the grip.

Actually, it wasn't that Tinubu left any party but the Adebisi Akande led Faction of the AD was in court with the other AD Faction led by Mojisoluwa Akinfewa, which was been sponsored by Obasanjo and the PDP.

The Akande led Faction resigned en mass from AD and re-registered their faction under a new name ,AC which was later renamed ACN, like you rightly said.

Yes, the other faction were hell bent on letting the party remain a Yoruba (Afenifere) party and the Akande/Tinubu faction want to separate Afenifere from AD, also Tinubu should be the party's national leader as the highest political office holder (their only governor), but they wont allow that and all effort to reconcile the factions proved abortive, their national chairman then named Akinfenwa (the leader of the other faction) as national chairman and he who refuse to resign even after INEC's intervention in the situation then.

Under Military Rule: SDP was proscribed in Nov,1993 when Gen Abacha overthrew the Government.

1999: Tinubu ,Osoba, Lam Adeshina, Adeniyi Adebayo and others were elected under the AD.

2003-2005: The Obasanjo led FG was using some people to cause division within the AD by fractionalizing it, with Sen Mojisoluwa Akinfewa declaring himself the party chairman which led to a protected legal battle without any headway such that the AD Faction led by Pa Adebisi Akande, resigned from AD to form ACD/ AC.

2007: With entrance of new powerbrokers into the AC led by Ex-Gov Bafarawa of Sokoto, a motion was moved to expand the name from Action Congress to Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) to reflect a national outlook.

2013: ACN, ANPP, CPC and a Faction of APGA merged together in 2013 to form the APC.

Those of you saying the SDP of 1993 is quite different from today's SDP are just been economical with the truth just to justify that Tinubu never run away from SDP.
SDP is only political party that has never changed because they still kept to old programmes and Manifesto.

Is it that very simple things are very complex to you to understand? There was no more SDP as at 1999, Abacha dissolved it in 1993. It only came back in name after 2003 when Tinubu was already an AD governor. So how could Tinubu be said to had decamped from it? Upon return to democracy in 1999 d only three parties were PDP, APP and AD. Even if u were not born then, at least u are literate enough to read on social media, why not read up Nigeria history so u don't keep embarrassing yourself in social media?

Olodo, to defect means to leave a political party and move to another, d key phrase is moving to another, like Gbajue Peter Obi did severally. When u leave a political party and don't join another, u did not defect, also when u leave a political party and then form another one, it means u did not defect. It's like saying Buhari defected from ANPP to CPC, no he did not, he formed CPC just like Tinubu formed AC and later ACN. Do u know d sacrifice and effort it takes to form a political party from d scratch? That's something Gbajue Peter Obi doesn't have d character to do cos he is an opportunist, he always jumps to parties others formed with their sweat and sacrifice. It's d same way of his leader and mentor Atiku Abubakar. That's why both of them can never be president. No defector will be president of Nigeria. Neither OBJ nor YarAdua nor GEJ nor PMB nor PBAT was a defector and they became president. Gbajue Peter Obi and Atiku are serial defectors and can never be President of Nigeria.
