Wetin concern Nigeria and dollars? Many Nigerians havent still realized that in the scheme of things, we are a very poor country. Our revenue cant adequately sustain our population vis-a-vis economy and our resources remain fully untapped. Until the day we actively get involved in the running of affairs in our country, nothing will change. We love foreign made good and import everything at will. All the youths of nowadays want to japa. Who is supoosed to change the country if all of us travel out? If there is no price, there is no pay. |

muyico: HarunaWest:The question both of you should be asking yourselves is how did Jonathan pay 109 dollars in 2012 even when things were 10 times or more cheaper in Nigeria and Nigeria depended on importation like now and yet didn't borrow like what Tinubu has done in the past 1 year alone? |
| Re: Minimum Wage. Are We Progressing Or Regressing by Goodvibes007: 4:25pm On Jul 19, 2024 |
Kukutenla:This is a weak equivalency or comparison. Also in the US, your dollar will go further in 2013 vs 2024, meaning you can buy more stuff with the same money back then than now. Minimum wage has hardly gone up. |
| Re: Minimum Wage. Are We Progressing Or Regressing by Treadway: 5:03pm On Jul 19, 2024 |
Goodvibes007:False. Stick to the Nigeria/naira you know..you mustn't comment on the US or the preservable value of the USD (which you don't know), even so over a period of many years. The dollar will buy just about the same things it could buy today even in 2003. It has remained a sure store of value for many years. Price of a 2004 car in Year 2004, a 2014 car in Year 2014, and a price of a 2024 car in Year 2024 car hovers around same amount thru those decades/generations. Price of a gallon of milk has not swung wildly in over 30 years

HarunaWest:Do you think the president of a very poor country should have a private jet not to mention 10 and counting? 🤔 |

Quarter increase is better than nothing |
| Re: Minimum Wage. Are We Progressing Or Regressing by Zxcvbnmghtr: 5:36pm On Jul 19, 2024 |
Kukutenla:Can you go back to as far as Shagari era to compare and contrast?! If not why not? |
| Re: Minimum Wage. Are We Progressing Or Regressing by Kukutenla(op): 5:37pm On Jul 19, 2024 |
Goodvibes007:What's the depreciation rate of dollar in the past ten years and what's the depreciation rate of naira? |
| Re: Minimum Wage. Are We Progressing Or Regressing by Kukutenla(op): 5:42pm On Jul 19, 2024 |
Zxcvbnmghtr:What difference does that make? Minimum wage was about $200 in 1979. If you compare with 2012 of $109, and then compare from $109 to $43 2024, which is worse? |
| Re: Minimum Wage. Are We Progressing Or Regressing by mrvitalis(m): 5:44pm On Jul 19, 2024 |
According to the United Nations A poor person is defined as someone who spends less than 2 dollars day Dollar is 1600 s a poor person is someone who spends less than 3200 d day or 96,000 a month So someone earning minimum wage is considered poor |
| Re: Minimum Wage. Are We Progressing Or Regressing by HarunaWest(m): 5:50pm On Jul 19, 2024 |
Kukutenla:Thats why I said if we were actively involved such nonsense wouldnt happen. If youths were actively involved, such nonsense wouldnt happen. Nigerians have been docile for too long. And it seems the only language our politicians understand is vawulence. |
| Re: Minimum Wage. Are We Progressing Or Regressing by Kukutenla(op): 5:58pm On Jul 19, 2024 |
HarunaWest:So you think Nigerian youths should revolt and put the present crop of politicians to the sword? |
| Re: Minimum Wage. Are We Progressing Or Regressing by Zxcvbnmghtr: 6:01pm On Jul 19, 2024 |
Kukutenla:Where did you get the bolded from?! And why hasn't it been sustainable, even surpassed?! Is that not the bases of your judgement? A judgement which the dollar which you choose a your yardstick is not the Nigerian currency nor has it been static in conversion. Have you ever complained about the price of a litre of fuel in Naira when converted to dollars and compared to the price of fuel per liter where dollar is their currency? |
| Re: Minimum Wage. Are We Progressing Or Regressing by LegendHero(m): 6:03pm On Jul 19, 2024 |
The person doing the comparison don’t have sense. Naira to dollar value is artificial, it does not reflect real comparison. If Tinubu proceed to defend naira massively as the others did today, dollar will fall to 700 or below. So that means the 70k minimum wage will be $100 by then. —How much do people sell 1 plot of land in 1999? —How much do people sell 1 plot of land in 2023? |
| Re: Minimum Wage. Are We Progressing Or Regressing by Kukutenla(op): 6:07pm On Jul 19, 2024 |
Zxcvbnmghtr:If you have a different figure share instead of asking meaningless questions. When it's time to compare price of fuel with other countries, your kind don't remember that dollar is not the Nigerian currency. FYI, dollar is the world's frontline currency for trade as of today. So stick your hypocrisy where it does not smell |
| Re: Minimum Wage. Are We Progressing Or Regressing by Kukutenla(op): 6:08pm On Jul 19, 2024 |
LegendHero:What is stopping Tinubu from defending naira massively? The same mouth you use to claim that allocation has increased massively and shout JAGABAN like a street urchin is same mouth you're using to make this tardy excuse? Since naira to dollar value is artificial, kindly share the real value then!! |

Kukutenla: I'm glad you are able to be reasonable with the bolded. Exactly my point lol.So with the Nigerian currency, has it been an upward trend or a downward trend since Shagari era?! ![]() |
| Re: Minimum Wage. Are We Progressing Or Regressing by LegendHero(m): 6:11pm On Jul 19, 2024 |
Kukutenla:Will you give him the money to defend it? Probably you get some billion dollar lying in your farmhouse . I’m sure Tinubu will be happy with you if you can just give him $10bn. |
| Re: Minimum Wage. Are We Progressing Or Regressing by Kukutenla(op): 6:13pm On Jul 19, 2024 |
Zxcvbnmghtr:Downward trend. What's your point again? That others have the right to fail when others fail and they should even outdo those before them in failure? Is that how you reason your life? It gets worse and you feel better? |
| Re: Minimum Wage. Are We Progressing Or Regressing by Kukutenla(op): 6:14pm On Jul 19, 2024 |
LegendHero:Did he consult me before devaluing it to an "artificial value" of 1500? Even if I do, why should I be the one to pay for his choice? Is that how you go about looking for others to bear the burden of your actions? |
| Re: Minimum Wage. Are We Progressing Or Regressing by Zxcvbnmghtr: 6:15pm On Jul 19, 2024 |
Kukutenla:#30,000 (Naira) to #70,000 (Naira) is a downward trend?! ![]() |
| Re: Minimum Wage. Are We Progressing Or Regressing by LegendHero(m): 6:20pm On Jul 19, 2024 |
Kukutenla:That’s why I said you should give him $10bn. If you are not part of the government and not giving him money to service the over 90% of revenue being used for loans which he met, then what is your business in how he chose to manage his government? Give CBN $10bn free money today and watch the naira value rise against the dollar. When foreign reserve go low, it’s same you unfortunate people that will be crying “Tinubu is depleting foreign reserve” and bla bla bla. Yet you are here crying about dollar value nonsense like Tinubu will go to his mom in heaven to borrow money for you unproductive population to bring dollar to $1 =1.00 USD N1. He has said he is paying 70k, Abia state can’t even pay 20k wage. Rather face the useless Abia governor for not being able to pay the 250k labor initially asked for before facing Tinubu that is paying 70k. Obi the useless guy you are propping can’t even pay all his civil servant when he was governor of that tiny Anambra, let alone he performing magic bringing dollar to 250 naira because the clueless guy said just anything during his campaign to please some mob. |

LegendHero:You sound angry. I can imagine veins on your forehead as you're typing this. Don't cry. It's a normal thing to ask questions as a citizen on the direction one's country is headed. That's how the country you're holed up in as an economic migrant became what you lust after that you're ready to abandon your fatherland for them. It also reflects poorly on you that you can claim a tax paying citizen is not a part of government in a democracy. Since you know government is exclusively for those in it, may I ask what business of yours it is with what goes on in a country you're not a part of that you come here everyday making stupid and silly divisive comments and defending the same policies you have no business with. Your lilliputian sense should tell you that floating a currency means even if CBN have $10bn, they will still not defend naira. As for your meaningless rants about Abia and Obi, I can only pity you since they run riot in your head 24/7. You need to breathe. |

Zxcvbnmghtr:In real value, yes. Or you don't know what inflation means? You can't really be that clueless |
| Re: Minimum Wage. Are We Progressing Or Regressing by Zxcvbnmghtr: 6:39pm On Jul 19, 2024 |
Kukutenla:You have already been reasonable with your comment as thus: Kukutenla:Hence, if we stick to the Naira and not our bias analysis using the dollar, value will be very appreciated in our own currency. |
| Re: Minimum Wage. Are We Progressing Or Regressing by Kukutenla(op): 6:46pm On Jul 19, 2024 |
Zxcvbnmghtr:Fine, we stick to the naira value. N70k cannot buy a bag of rice in 2024. N18k could buy at least 2 bags in 2012. What say you now? |
| Re: Minimum Wage. Are We Progressing Or Regressing by Zxcvbnmghtr: 7:08pm On Jul 19, 2024 |
Kukutenla:What I have to say is, cut your coat according to your size. Mind you, N70k can buy a bag of rice, truth be told. |
| Re: Minimum Wage. Are We Progressing Or Regressing by Kukutenla(op): 7:28pm On Jul 19, 2024 |
Zxcvbnmghtr:No one needs your advice You should be bold enough to admit that you were defending nonsense initially A bag of rice is 77k least. Fact check me. |

Kukutenla:You mean Nigerian locally farmed rice?! You get the point now and the whole essence of the reason why it's distasteful to you? |
| Re: Minimum Wage. Are We Progressing Or Regressing by HarunaWest(m): 7:35pm On Jul 19, 2024 |
Kukutenla:Thats a last option. The one I prefer is that youths should seek elective postitions, youths should engage in non sentimental national discourse, youth should engage in protests against bad leadership or corruption, youths should be united towards a common front. The youths should take this country back from the old men. |
