Nollywood actress and wife of Delta North's senator Regina Daniels has joined the campaign for the creation of Anioma state from Delta state. For her, it is the only viable alternative, being endowed with land mass and oil and gas resources. According to her, Anioma's cultural homogeneity and strong affinity with the south east makes it the most suitable proposal for a sixth South East state which will help in addressing historical injustice against the region.

Do you have to be Igbo to be in South East, which geopolitical zone in Nigeria have one homogeneous ethnic group. There are Igala people in SE.

Take support when you can get it. It's not like there's not good reasons to say no. If new states are created, current states allocation will reduce ceteris paribus.

Delta north has historically been the poorest province in both old Midwest/Bendel and later Delta state.

People to the south are more relieved to have Anioma instead of catering for them and their cousins from across the Niger.

I even did a topic long before Ned's bill to have Delta north carved out from Delta state owing specifically to the drastic demographic changes going on in places like Asaba as a result of SE trooping in to Asaba and environ to settle following IPOB menace and other criminality plaguing the SE and Anambra in particular.

It's best in my book that Delta north be created but since listening and reading the grievances aired by other tribes to the north who are not too keen on joining SE zone, I believe it's best that Asaba should just be ceded to Anambra instead.

South East is even having a problem of not been able to merge all the Igbo in the region under one state but some are already thinking of creating another state.

How about the remaining Igbo in Delta and other states, are they not part of the Igbo people?

Honestly, the South East has had its fair share of issues. Adding another state won’t solve the underlying problems. It's just a distraction from the real challenges we face.
