My Transmission Kia Rio 2014 model Being stuck in third gear mean it will be slow to pick speed from a stop,it will struggle to climb hill, it won't select 1 and 2 on the dash.it Wii show 3.. please I need a help/ solution or any useful advice.
Mechanic hv removed the catherlist , changed fuel pump and filter and yet the same issue. Saying now that I should replace verve body as scanner indicated.
If you know the solution please kindly assist me.

Solution is to replace the whole transmission. No go change valve body because nah another mechanic chopping jackpot be that

But what does changing catalyst, fuel pump & filter have to do with a stvk transmission.

I don't even understand Nigerians sef, we go commot millions of naira to buy modern cars, but we cant spend extra 200-300k for a good scanner that can scan the entire vehicle.., It may seem expensive at first, but trust me, it would save u money on minor repairs & prevent mechanics from drilling Ur pockets with trial & error

Like experts have advised, change the transmission and hope it is a good one that's still got good life in it or scrap the vehicle, any other thing you do will not help you, gear boxes issues is most Nigerian mechanics' 'jackpot'

Op, My best guess is that your car has entered limp mode due to some underlying issues. Scan that car and post the codes here

You came to ask for advice after the car has been damged by the stupid mechanics you all keep going to.

He stole your catalyst in front of you before charging you for what was not a problem, now he says its your transmission.
You should always scan first and come here with the codes and symptoms before we refer you to someone that can really help.

What did you do to the car a couple of weeks before the problem started.

al issue,maybe low fluid,dirty fluid,malfunctioning 02 sensors,nozzles,spark plugs coils...

They didn't San it in my present, the mechanic told me that he took it scanner which indicated valve body. No code was given to me.

I will take it to another place for proper scanning. And drop the code here.

If you have not tampered with the transmission, then this advise is for you.

Your problem is the ecu. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

I have witnessed this in three kias. One was a 2014 rio like yours, the others were souls and a hyundai.

You have a defective ecu. For the rio. One chap in ph repaired it.

For the others, the ecus were replaced and problems went away.

Nothing is wrong with your valve body.

This is a common issue with kias.

I have been in this situation before.i bought a new brainbox for 140k last year The code is p0748,the capacitor in the brainbox is now corroded,just replace the brainbox and your car will be fine, don't forget to also drain and refill the gear box with sp iv trans fluid ,pls don't use roadside fluid like abro and holts to avoid problem.,
