Religious Zionist rabbis Published a letter today in which they lend their firm opposition to the proposed hostage deal.

The rabbis emphasize that although the commandment to free captives is one of the greatest and most important in the Torah, the conditions demanded for the release of hostages held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip endanger the safety of all the country's citizens.

Among the signatories of the letter are leading rabbis such as Rabbi Yaakov Ariel, Rabbi Dov Lior and Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu.

The rabbis' letter was sent less than a day after the discussion led by the Prime Minister, in which it was decided to send a negotiating team to Qatar towards the end of the week. The negotiating team was given the green light to move forward.

The guidelines announced by Netanyahu are clear. But still, the leading rabbis among the people are against the release of the hostages at this stage.
