Amibo1:I don’t get this narrative of monopoly everyone is running with. From 1999-2024 the Federal government has spent more than twice as much the amount Dangote used in building his refinery as maintenance (turn around maintenance) on the government owned refineries. Why aren’t these refineries working today? And the federal government is now talking of monopoly?

OkCornel:Africans especially Nigerians will rather cut their nose to spite their face. Dangote and companies like Dangote should be encouraged by the government. It was companies like this that made the Asian economic miracle possible. The accusation of being a monopolist is obviously nonsense, Dangote did not prevent anyone from entering into any business. |

Finally! The game just got interesting. Tinubu's move is like a breath of fresh air, shaking things up. No more one-man show, let the competition begin! It's about time we see some balance in the market. Let’s go, Nigeria! |

Chinkoalhaji34:U are very ignorant.i am an oil and gas expert wit an msc in oil an gas management.Say monopoly or not.there is no one in nigeria that will ever build d size of refinery dangote did.Reason being refineries around d world are build close to source of crude.Dangote trying to import west texas index crude fro uSa will never giv d nigerian market cheap products except if his source is Nigeria or west africa. That being said, dont forget d refinery was built after agreement that its source of crude will be Nigeria.plus for over 30 years we hav been importing rejected quality pms around d world bt dangote now already promised 2 diff fuel grades of 85 octane n 91 octane for premium vehicles.U really hav no clue do u? |

bdon123:According to Dangote, the U.S. source presented a cheaper option. ![]() 2. That's what Dangote claims but Dangote was well aware that the same Government that made him that agreement had loads it needed to pay with that same oil. So, even if we are to believe Dangote was told that, how could he have believed the Government would be able to do that? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENWp9OhZAf4?si=7_uB6_lEh0QnsFnLAnyways, Dangote finally admitted knowledge of the selling of oil futures so we can let this ridiculousness die.

Chinkoalhaji34:Totally agree. Monopoly is not good for our country. Nigeria made Dangote the richest man in Africa and he should be grateful for that. |
