The level of ignorance in this write up eh is crazy
Petrol is an artificial product... Price is same world wide expect the country decide to tax it

Price of Petrol has been, is and would forever be 0.8 to 1.1 dollars it's not rocket science

If dollars raise to 5000 to a dollars u would buy petrol 4000 to a litre

All these your grammar is rubbish

Petrol in nigeria is ₦1240 as we speak, government subsidy is what's keeping it blow
At least acknowledge the fact about the Dangote cement artificial price hike and how it truly may have been the root-cause of the current refinery debacle, before you start attacking other minor issues. I'm no supporter of Tinubu, but this is very probably the reason for Dangote trouble.
Re: Cement: How Dangote Offended Tinubu by Max24: 11:47am On Jul 23, 2024
No wonder Tinubu is protecting the interest of Nigerian masses so that we don't become easy picking for Dangotes monopoly. If Dangote is allowed to control oil as he does cement then it will hurt Tinubu politically. Dangote needs to bring down his cement price down and guarantee cheap fuel. They think they are still dealing with Buhari. Tinubu is far ahead of all the Nigerian cabals !

There is no artificial increase in dangote cement in fact dangote cement has never been this cheap ever in the history of Nigeria never

Cement is 5 dollars per 50kg in nigeria right now show me one just one west African country with cheaper cement I dare you

When you miss manage your economy and your currency loose value you expect things to remain same in your local currency?

Even in China with their advantage of scale the price is 4800 naira if you convert it

The problem with most Africans is they never tackle problems they only tackle systems

This makes little sense. i think Dangote should find a way to bring his own price down and the marketers will have no other option than to patronize him. Air peace did that too
The biggest problem Dangote is facing currently is access to raw materials (crude oil), the Nigerian government is not interested in doing business with him and his foreign suppliers have ganged up to frustrate him by hoarding supply at the behest of foreign refiners who sees him as a very big threat to their business.
Reason you see the once quite billionaire shouting all over social media like a content creator, cos every single minute his refinery will be losing millions without production.

I was just tired for the guy and couldn't reply his tomfoolery. Thanks for letting him know, let's see his IQ.

According to the OP, things locally produced shouldn't be that expensive irrespective of the demand. They should allow importation if the locally produced items are more expensive than the imported.

Dangote should emulate airpeace, I don't know how he does it but he has shown it is possible.

Dave Umahi convinced Tinubu that concrete road is better than road constructed with bitumen that it last longer and cheaper. Then, a bag of cement was around 3,500 and 4,500.

Tinubu proposed construction of Lagos Calabar coastal highway and passed it in the budget. As soon as the project is about to start, dangote and other cement manufacturers met and increased the price of cement to 10,000 Naira from 4,500 naira. That is more than 100% price hike within few days .

Tinubu summoned dangote to Aso rock and demanded, why the sudden increase in the Price of cement. Dangote could not give any reason, he blamed the price hike on demand. Tinubu made it known that all the cement raw materials are locally sourced and wonder why they increased the price. Then he advised the price be reviewed.

Till now, no significant decrease in the price of cement and the this affects the price of road projects budgeted by the government.

Now, dangote is calling the Tinubu government to stop importation of refined fuel to assist local refineries and Tinubu turned deaf hears.

My take

Nigeria stop importation of rice to assist local rice producers when bag of rice was 10,000 naira. After importation was stopped Nigerian rice producers increased price from 10,000 naira to 30,000 naira per bag, then 50,000, and now 70,000 naira per bag. If you asked them, they will blame high demand.

Definitely if importation of fuel is stopped, local refiners will hold meetings again and start milking Nigerians with habitrary increase in fuel price.

Should dangote even demand for stoppage of importation of refined oil in the first place? After all he is exporting his refined oil and making money.
Fabricated lies. Show us verify fact. Which media did you obtain it from. I understand some of you are still in pains of the realization of the refinery by Dangote. You people said it can't work.

I support dangote but it doesn't mean I should not criticize him

He has its own fault

He was over pampered by previous governments

Your take is flawed. If manufacturers face a 300% increase in electricity and fuel costs, along with several other indirect taxes due to Tinubu's policies, they cannot maintain the old prices for their products. It's simple maths. Except you know their profit markup after the increased taxes.
Re: Cement: How Dangote Offended Tinubu by EcoNews: 2:51pm On Jul 23, 2024
I taught Dangote produce it own electricity n also refine it own fuel. Does that not make your argument flawed as well ?!

DANGOTE IS DOING THE SAME THING AL CAPONE DID IN USA IN THE 1830's

EXCEPT THIS TIME HE IS MESSING WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, BRAZENLY AND WITHOUT FEAR.

OKAY THEY PASSED THE BUDGET AND HE DOUBLED THE CEMENT PRICE, TECHNICALLY BRINGING THE GOVERNMENT TO ITS KNEES SINCE HE HAS QUASI MONOPOLY OR HE IS THE HEAD OF THE CEMENT CARTEL.

NOW SOME DUMB PEOPLE WANT US TO ENTRUST HIM WITH THE ENERGY (DIESEL/PETROL) OF THE WHOLE COUNTRY.

THE DAY HE WAKES UP AND HE DOESN'T LIKE THE GOVERNMENT, HE WILL SABOTAGE THE WHOLE GOVERNEMENT SINCE HE HAS PETROL/DIESEL MONOPOLY.

HE IS ALREADY THROWING ENTITLED TANTRUMS, SELL AND BUY IN THE OPEN FREE MARKET. ITS NOT A MUST THAT NIGERIA MUST SELL CRUDE TO HIM OR BUY DIESEL/PETROL FROM HIM.
Very correct.

The only mistake Bola Tinubu is making is making his government a Yoruba enclave with 90% key appointees being Yorubas, this is his biggest undoing.

Bola should have scouted for competent Igbos and Southsouth and even Middlebelt people to cement his government and make it detribalized to fight off Northern wolves.

But his ignorant oh yes tribesmen think he is doing the best for them, e go shock them soon.

Obasanjo is a smart Yoruba man, I suspect he must have Igbo blood as being rumored for years.

Forget Omo Igbo get sense sha and na why senseless Yoruba Ronu miscreants and Hausa-Fulani Moslem fanatics hate Igbos cool

Op what you are saying makes sense, that I'm not Tinubu's fan will not stop me from applauding some of his policies that is good for Nigerian like this case at hand before Obasanjo who knows Dangote .
Obasanjo made Dangote what he is today by giving him monopoly then followed by other government till date and here comes Pharaoh that doesn't know Joseph.
What the president should have done is to open borders and all open market so that the price of cement will crash.

I think the challenge he will face by reducing his price is that PMS is heavily subsidized by the FGN, I think the difference between the actual landing cost and selling price is about N500/liter, making it impossible to sell locally without government patronage.
These issues currently going around requires a political solution with the Nigerian interest at heart.

Why didnt Tinubu asked for the massive importation of Cement. instead of victimizing Dangote and the rest. It is an insult on our sensibilities. our refineries are not working despite billions and several years of lies, no one is held responsible.
Since, officials of NNPC has refineries abroad, they wont want our own to work. How can you keep such people in office?

You are always talking as if you are addressing your village people.

Cement is not cheap anywhere in West Africa yet we are seeing other brands of cement here in Abuja.

In fact, cement is being imported from Niger and it's still relatively cheaper than Dangote cement.

Am not defending FG nor condemning Dangote but to burst your myopic opinion on politics and economy.

You've got some learning to do boy
