The biggest problem Dangote is facing currently is access to raw materials (crude oil), the Nigerian government is not interested in doing business with him and his foreign suppliers have ganged up to frustrate him by hoarding supply at the behest of foreign refiners who sees him as a very big threat to their business.
Reason you see the once quite billionaire shouting all over social media like a content creator, cos every single minute his refinery will be losing millions without production.

Nigeria stop importation of rice to assist local rice producers when bag of rice was 10,000 naira. After importation was stopped Nigerian rice producers increased price from 10,000 naira to 30,000 naira per bag, then 50,000, and now 70,000 naira per bag. If you asked them, they will blame high demand.


Definitely if importation of fuel is stopped, local refiners will hold meetings again and start milking Nigerians with habitrary increase in fuel price.

Should dangote even demand for stoppage of importation of refined oil in the first place? After all he is exporting his refined oil and making money.

Your take is flawed. If manufacturers face a 300% increase in electricity and fuel costs, along with several other indirect taxes due to Tinubu's policies, they cannot maintain the old prices for their products. It's simple maths. Except you know their profit markup after the increased taxes.
