While this power play goes on, the economy would continue to receive the heat.

One wonders what's wrong with us as a people.

A project that is expected to shore up the economy is now being threatened by parochial personal interests.

Hello, Mr. President, are you there?

All I see in this Dngote-NNPC fracas is that NNPC representative wanted a bigger cake but Dongote being a business man don't want that. He wants it to be as agreed. The losing side is fighting tooth and nail to frustrate Dangote.. Nigeria is a tough place to do business that corrupt goons are feeding fat from. How do you want govt owned refineries to work when you have so many vultures hovering around?

That refinery is not worth 20 billion.

The largest refinery by capacity in the world. The largest refinery in the world, as of recent data, is the Jamnagar Refinery located in Gujarat, India. It is owned by Reliance Industries Limited. Here are some key details:

Jamnagar Refinery

• Capacity: The Jamnagar Refinery has a combined refining capacity of approximately 1.24 million barrels per day (bpd). This includes the original refinery and the adjacent export-oriented refinery.
• Cost of Building: The initial phase of the refinery, completed in 1999, cost about $6 billion.

This 20% by NNPC is closer to the whole cost of the whole Refinery.
Sorry you gave a cost at completion in the year 1999, how can one be so gullible? tell me one thing in the whole world that did not have a 500% increase from 1999 to 2023. infact by that estimation dangote refinery is very cheap in comparision.

The most sensible statement this woman has made in recent times.

I personally believe that Mele Kyari and Dangote has some underground deals that they are dancing around currently with none willing to fully tell us what the brouhaha is really about.

I also personally believe that Mele Kyari's days are numbered in NNPC.

Now I understand why they never wanted any refineries to work in Nigeria. It's because they were exporting the crude to their refineries abroad to refine it, steal it, and return a small quantity back. This is pure evil, and they should all be jailed.

WHY ARE THE 3 CHINESE REFINERIES HAVING DIGFFERENT COSTS IN THE SAME COUNTRY?
now remember how easy it is to build in nigeria, the cost of the dredging, the cost of power plant the cost of sand filling, the cost of building roads to the company, the cost of amenities that are suppposed to be available in the first place by the government, the cost of settlement, importaion duties for every single bolt in the refinery, logistic of shippings of every single nut etc.
what will you arrive at?

Don't forget he bought cement used in building the refinery from "himself" so it should have been discounted, even if some other items were bought at market price. The refineries i showed you bought refinery in the open market NO DISCOUNT. But still cheaper.

Did the Nigerian government not tell us it borrowed $3.3bn from Afriexim-Bank to take a stake in the Dangote refinery? :

the entire money go don enter another well grin grin grin
a probe is needed but NASS is just a joke. NEITI dey do its work nowadays. this private business with dangote is becoming something else, while can't NNPC just fix the refineries and operate like a normal company ?
Re: Ezekwesili Calls For Audit Of Dangote-NNPC Business Transactions by bitbillionaire: 11:07am On Jul 24, 2024
Yes. NNPC should give account of the $3.3 billion loan they took to invest in Dangote Refinery. We need to know what they ended up doing with that money as they didn't use it for the investment for which they took the loan.
Re: Ezekwesili Calls For Audit Of Dangote-NNPC Business Transactions by frog12: 11:07am On Jul 24, 2024
because of people like you, the looters always win. Ezejwesili is right, they need to know what happened to the 3.3billion they borrow from Afriexim bank but NASS is a pure jokers stadium.

Ezekwesili should chill. Dangote has built an empire that’s benefiting the economy. If anything, let’s focus on how to support and grow local businesses instead of always looking for faults. Transparency is good, but let’s not forget the progress he’s made for Nigeria.

You are expecting the cost of building something in 1999 and 2024 to be the same?
