FG - Beware of Dangote Media Propaganda. by Antitankweapon(op):
PUNCH newspaper has taken the job of running propaganda for Dangote. PUNCH newspaper, with their shallow reporting , has started the propaganda that local refineries can end fuel imports. Hell NO. We say NO.

Local companies have many advantages over Importers. They have lots of advantages over importers. Local companies should best importers based on unit economics. There is no need for a BAN when Local companies have home advantages. Simple.

Dangote wants to ban imports , but export his own fuel. Can you imagine.

The same way they said local cement manufacturers can meet our cement needs, today cement is N10,000 per bag. From N1,500 to N10,000. Local companies have only skyrocketed price.

The FG should not give in to propaganda. Other companies are competing just fine. Dangote refinery should compete.

A) Innoson competes with car importers
B) ProForce competes with imported MRAPS
B) Air Peace competes with foreign airlines
C) Transcorp competes with foreign owned
E) Banks compete with foreign banks
F) FMCG companies compete with importers

Dangote is NOT the only industrialist in Nigeria. Everything Dangote produces, he wants a ban for. No. Economics don't work like that.

Every business should compete. Sometimes, imports might be cheaper for consumers. Dangote cement and sugar are more expensive than imported ones.

Dangote used a BAN on cement and sugar to destroy other Nigerian companies. Ibeto cement and Nigercem were destroyed by Dangote, thousands of jobs lost and cement price skyrocketed.

Also, Dangote's persistent war with BUA is a pointer to the RISKS of granting his wishes.

As Dangote's refinery is home based, he has lots of advantages over importers. He should be able to offer cheaper quality fuel and win the market. Why is he looking for a BAN to destroy other companies that have supplied fuel before his refinery.

You don't understand how this works or exactly what is happening. Do you?

Let me just give you a clue of what's going on. Government cabals were selling diesel at high price after refusing Dangote refinery our raw material (crude oil). Dangote refinery bought their raw material from outside and crashed the price of diesel, realistically, that's competition (that was a loss on the government oil cabals who saw it as a challenge). So, they started labelling Dangote's petrol as inferior (in the background that is, directly to IPMAN retailers patronising Dangote) thereby discouraging consumers. Dangote responded to them openly by accusations in order to expose them and he was right, we're now getting to know the root cause of our inability to refine oil problems for decades. If Dangote had not ventured into refinery, no one would have known what is and/or was going on for decades in that sector.

Other businesses you mentioned are not in direct competition or conflict of any kind with the government. Got it?

Dangote must compete. No problem.

But why aren’t the government owned refineries working despite spending more than twice as much what Dangote used to set up a brand new refinery on maintenance between 1999-2024?

Those refineries were privatised by OBJ, which was the right thing to do. Another govt, Yar Adua, came and reversed the privatisation. That is the problem. They need to be privatised for efficient operations.

Dangote is a blessing to Nigeria not a problem. We've seen a number of foreign manufacturers just pack their bags and left Nigeria.
We need people and companies that will stay around for better or for worse.
Dangote and other local manufacturer should be given a priority.

Enough of pampering Dangote by successive govts. Enough please. He has become an entitled spoilt child always running to FG. He is NOT the only industrialist in Nigeria. Enough of pampering Dangote please. See examples.

So you were deaf when the frontier onyeama was screaming. Did you people not also complain when dangote launch his sino truck brand. Dangote is not complaining like your people of competition but rather a government agency in connive with importers of fuel by lieing about the quality of his fuel. What stop anybody from your region with license not deem it fit to build a refinery. What I see about dangote his is tenacity of doing mega projects. Air peace and innoson was not frustrated by any government agency, rather they were both supported by the president as at time of coming on stream. Air peace shower praises last year on Arise tv on Buhari for enabling him, penetrate the international market. Innoson as is success attributed to Jonathan.

Thank you, everything is hatred to them as long as not their brothers own. You have said it all. Only the reduction in price of international airlines to Nigeria route, almost a whole tribe were attacking the president of not showing support. Who grant him international route, is it not same government under Buhari they hated so much. Air peace crashed their prices to gain the Lagos uk route to get an edge over the likes of British airways but started crying like a child when they further crash the price. I stand to be corrected, almost Igbo businessmen hate competition.
Re: FG - Beware of Dangote Media Propaganda. by WeirdAlien:
Lack of sense.

Compete with who? Importers?? Are you even okayhuh
One of the major causes of high dollar exchange is because we lose a large chunk of the dollars we make from crude oil export to importation of petrol and diesel.
Imagine you are a corn farmer and all your children and wife go to the next village to buy roasted corn that is your daily meal. Now your first son set up a grill to start roasting corn on your farm, you gave him some money.
So, first, you asked him to go buy fresh corn from the city to come and roast on your corn farm.
Second, you say his roasted corn must compete with the one you buy outside.
Third, you are the biggest mumu in the whole world.

You are wrong, one of the cardinal pillars of a Refinery is feedstock supply, are you saying this dude finished building his refinery without signing contracts for feedstock suppliers? Something is really wrong.

E go soon reach you. That's how importation killed the textile industry and drove into extinction over 500,000 jobs maybe that's why your cousin is jobless.
You mentioned Innoson, you didn't tell us what Killed Peugeot, Volkswagen, Leyland in Nigeria ( they are all victims of importations).
How do you put your head round Nigeria Exporting Crude to Indonesia and importing fuel?
Re: FG - Beware of Dangote Media Propaganda. by nedu666: 4:05pm On Jul 25, 2024
Pls remember when dangote wanted fed govt to ban lafarge cement under the disguise that lafarge was not producing cement at a standard set by s.o.n. lafarge countered that it was dangote that influence s.o.n to insist on them producing cement to dangote standard.

The same dangote under buhari wanted fed govt to ban but from producing cement and sugar.

So no be today dangote start to seek ban of other competitors
