This Police barracks still exist today at Ebute Metta in Lagos. It was constructed by the British colonial folks for Police officers and men with their families. It was really looking nice back in the days.

Ebute Metta means "The three Harbours" in the Yoruba language. This was in reference to Iddo, Otto and Oyingbo.

In the olden days the king, Oba Oloto of Otto, controlled these harbours and had his agents collect taxes from ships bringing goods to Lagos through them.

All that ceased when the Brits took over reign of Lagos and what is today known as Nigeria.

The structure wouldnt last till 2224 anyways....Not trying to justify this but its actually wrong to view and see everything only via the tribal/Racial lens

There are structures being built within the same period that are still standing tall right now in Nigeria

Chai, I remember these barracks, I knew all three back in the days but they were not maintained.

Sometimes I feel like Nigerians should really stand up and protest for police welfare but the behavior of the average policeman is very discouraging. If you protest against the government, they're still the ones used to harass and intimidate civilians.

All our govt knows is to give out new contract, nothing about maintenance of infrastructure.

When the building turn to rubble, they will give out the contract to rebuild it.

While elsewhere u see building of year 1800s still standing strong.

Some of the achievement and signature of the colonial master's still standing the test of time.
If our father's have known that we will use our own hands to turn Nigeria upside down, they would have not allow them to go back.
By now maybe Nigeria will be one of the most developed countries in the world.

Since 1960, our history is just unfortunate filled with one step forward two steps backwards.
