MolB:
Hello
I'm planning on going on vacation during their midterm break in Feb, as Easter won't be possible due to obligations at home and work.
A friend is telling me that we might be turned back at POE because the kids are believed to be in session and it might look as if we have immigrant intent.
Anyone had any issues with similar circumstances at POE?
Are you in Nigeria? If yes then it looks fishy to be travelling during mid term as mid term is usually one week max. Except the kids will be out of school for sometime just to go on a holday. It is a dicey situation sha.Pick another travel period to avoid issues.

Yes, I'm in Nigeria. I was planning to add a week to their break. Thanks for your advice, I'll just wait for a convenient holiday.

wahala..the economy is just getting worse and worse...ethiopian airline wch provided affordable flights to usa, is no longer cheap. over 3m naira now for a return flight.
pls who knows of any cheaper way to get to washington or houston area with below 20hrs total flight time that cost less than 2m naira?
Re: U.S Visit: Port Of Entry Interview/stories. by babylawyr(f): 10:27pm On Jan 29, 2024
The cheapest airline now is AirFrance for travel between now and March!

Fam, ticket prices now are ridiculously expensive. Its has been like this for a while now because I've been waiting for price drop since last year! But its looking more and more unlikely, this is the new normal.

Don't worry, once her intentions are clean.
She will be allowed entry, worry less.

Thanks for your prayers. She’s out now. I will be dropping transcripts with the Cbp and the secondary people soon.

She flew from lagos to Houston, of course with a 2 hr stop over in Istanbul. She got fit to fly from her hospital (medison) and the Turkish airline people said the fit to fully will suffice and no need for the FAAN medical (that one is 10,200 naira). Flight was delayed because of IT problem in aviation since last week. She finally left 2 hours late. Fast forward to IAH. I called her (had done e sim for her) and was educating her on what to say. I was praying fervently and waiting for her to call me. I was mostly scared because we didn’t say we were going to have our baby at the interview.
Cbp officer - How are you doing today? Why are you here and how long will you be staying? Wifey - over 2 months, be staying in Airbnb apartment until my family comes. Then we’ll be moving to a bigger place. Immediately she said child birth. The officer screamed and called another officer.
In secondary -
She met a lot of people and was asked to sit down

The Naira, our government and our economy are the problem. The NGN has no real value against other FX, hence the crazy ticket prices.
Today, the USD of the N3m is $2k approximately. If USD:NGN was 900, you'd be looking for N1.8m. Getting cheap flight is a long shot right now.

This is my flight itinerary with United Airlines.

I will be switching airports from IAD (Dulles International Airport) to DCA (Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport).

I have two questions:

1. Considering that this flight itinerary involves one airport switch (IAD to DCA), will my checked bags be automatically checked through to the final destination of SBN (South Bend International Airport) or will I have to retrieve my checked bags at the port of entry, IAD, and check them again at the next airport, DCA?

2. What are the most seamless transportation options/routes from IAD to DCA?

You will be asked to retrieve your bag at the first point of entry in the US. You will be shown were to take them to once you clear customs/ agriculture. Next time you will see your bags is in your final destination.

NB- Ensure your bags are tagged to the final destination. ( This will be done at the Lagos airport)
LOS - SBN ( These are airport codes.)

Hi everyone. I have a question -

My mom applied for IW renewal of her B1/B2 visa and got a date for July. She dropped the passport, and when it was returned, it said the passport photograph should be retaken.

This was submitted Oct and since then no feedback.

They have moved to a new platform now. How do we do this?

Hi guys. I travelled to the US on the 20th of May 2024 and came back to Nigeria on the 7th of August 2024
Purpose of trip was vacation

Now it’s January 2025 and I wanna travel for another vacation again. Would this raise red flags at the port of entry ?

I’m actually honestly going for vacation

I’m rich and don’t work for anyone. So I can afford my trip.

Would the immigration officer assume that I’m traveling or visiting the United States too much?? undecided

To add to the comment I dropped in the other post. Working remotely while in the US also translates as working in the US. So think about your renewal before you buy that ticket.

Hey Guys. I’m currently in the USA on a B1/B2 visa and I just found a way to apply for an ITIN - independent taxpayer identification number. I needed to get this because I cannot get an SSN

I am on a B1/B2 visa and plan on buying a property which is not in violation of my visa

To buy a property I need an ITIN because I would be paying property taxes

NB: I have no intention of living in the USA. I am just buying the property as an investment and I would return to Nigeria and have an agency handle rental and management for me.

Will these cause me to have issues when I’m renewing my B1/B2 visa ?

I’m doing two things
-Acquiring an ITIN
-Buying a property outright in full (no mortgage)

NB:
-I have not violated my visa conditions. There is no where that states that a B1/B2 holder cannot buy property

-I will be returning back to Nigeria after staying about 3 months to acquire my ITIN and buy the property in full. Full amount is available

Please advise, will this pose me any problems with embassy in future?

Because honestly, I’m doing nothing wrong!

Nope. No problem in future at embassy
That is 100% the legal way to do everything you have set out to do.
Just make sure your annual property taxes are paid every year without fail or delay whether you are in our out of country.

MY PROPOSED ethiopian airlines itinerary is lagos-addis--atlanta (plane change) --houston, so my question is, heard atlanta POE is usually tough and time consuming, would we go through the famous POE/IMMIGRATION at atlanta...since we would be changing planes to united airlines there.....or we would do that at our destination in houston

Your POE is the first port you land in the US, so Atlanta.

Hope your layover has enough time in case immigration takes awhile.

What exactly are you concerned about with immigration at Atlanta

ATL poe is actually the easiest. Just don't carry prohibited food items.

NOTHING SPECIFIC, JUST HEARD OF DELAYS GOING TRU IMMIGRATION AND SOME PEOPLE MISSING THEIR CONNECTING FLIGHTS ETC.
MY LAYOVER IS 2.2HRS IN ATLANTA, SO I GUESS IT SHUD BE ENOUGH FOR THE PLANE SWITCH.

SO FROM YOU & other posters comments, i would need to retrieve my luggage myself..from ethiopian airlines and recheck them in to united airlines, meanwhile atl poe will screen me, and there wont be any further screening when we arrive at houston

You are not doing anything wrong , it's just the 3 months wait , you must be willing to defend reason for staying up to 3 months and back it with proof when you want to renew your visa. In the last few yrs , visitors that stayed for over a month got a 221G and were invited for interview after they submitted via drop box.

Yes no other screening in Houston.

CBP can take anytime they want o.
If there are a lot of people coming in you'll wait.
I don't know if your airline checked you in all the way to Houston. Because you'll collect your bags and recheck in for Houston flight.

Just bare that in mind.
