With no single tangible development. Bad roads littered everywhere. Building one flyover for years. Glorified city with billions. You see people contributing money to build their street roads. Major roads are filled with pot holes and dirt. Traffics everywhere with no improvement. You hail government who is clearly underperforming. Name one single major infrastructural project in Lagos?. People needs to start asking questions. Are you aware that the 100million dollars dangote paid runs into billions of Naira?. More than somany state allocations. There are also somany money like that being transacted on daily basis. Tribalism is a disease!. |

In 2010 Lagos GDP was $80.61 billion USD now in 2024 Lagos GDP is $29.3 billion USD Thanks to the same APC government that claimed to be better than PDP that made 12.09 trillion naira in 2010 to be worth more than 41 trillion naira in 2024....

Smithkafors:It’s also very important to know that, whereas, there are still many areas crying for improvement to make Lagos a better, livable city, its managers, especially in the last two decades have contributed in no small measure to position the city as still the nation’s foremost in terms of infrastructural developments, education and ease of doing business. The Eko Atlantic City, was a master stroke to not only arrest the threat of denudation posed by the surging Atlantic Ocean, but also to create a new and modern city right in the middle of the Ocean. The United States Embassy in Nigeria has acquired about 12.2 acres of land in the Eko Atlantic City to build a new consulate in Lagos at a cost of about 537 million USD, reputed to be the largest of its kind anywhere in the world. Oshodi, once a crime invested eyesore at the center of the city has been transformed into a place of pride within the city. The same goes for Mushin, Costain and a host of other places that has witnessed urban renewal within the past two decades. If since the advent of the present democratic dispensation a few more of those privileged to administer other states in Nigeria have done just about a quarter of what Lagos had achieved, the whole country would have been better for it. Regardless of whatever today’s politics might have you believed, the architects of what some call modern Lagos deserve a pat on the back

Lagos generates revenue from taxes only. That's a system of governance where the profit flows only towards the state government. On the surface, The GDP and IGR makes it seem like the state is actually working but as someone who spent most of my life there, I can tell you that it's really just smoke and mirrors |

ironheart:Dangote paid 100m dollars in 2017 to purchase the land in Lekki. The exchange rate then was around 350 so he paid equivalent of N35 billion for the land in Lekki. Land that's 7 times the size of Victoria Island. He got it very very cheap and even he Dangote himself acknowledged that Lagos gave him a very good bargain in the speech he made last week. |
