Something that NLC was demanding about #630,000 as minimum wage which people were disappointed that they settled for #70,000 in the end. . It seems like in human affairs, every solution opens up another problem.

like I said before it is funny to you now until it starts happening,we in the private sector will double everything and the consumers will only grumble and cry. The fg should just make sure things change for better,it will be another cycle that leads to the same result.

This law is similar to Tinubu removing subsidy. They are not looking at the unforeseen consequences. I expect people to start offering apprenticeships instead of employment. In saner climes, a single person is able to live comfortably earning minimum wage.
For employers to pay their employee, they have to increase the prices of their services and/or goods, employ only the minimum number of employees that can do the job. Thus things are generally expensive.

Many people do minimum wage jobs abroad and they are able to live comfortably better than some people earning fat salary in naija.

That is the meaning. The lowest earner in Nigeria should earn 70k . That is the minimum pay for being a cleaner, gate man etc.

It is greediness that's the problem of private business owners in Nigeria. If you make profit of say 20k daily for 26days, you'll have 520k. If you pay your sales boy 70k and maybe spend extra 100k for other monthly costs and reinvest 100k, you'll have 250k left.

Mind you, I am just being modest with figures here because I know that many businesses generate more profits than I stated above.

But they all want to live in opulence while their employees suffer like slaves!

You don't know Jack about private business, most private businesses don't even make that 20k in a week,going by your analysis if all or most people make that 20k then nobody will complain infact Nigeria will have a very robust middle class citizen.

The majority of those people can start selling groundnut and perishable goods and make three to four thousand per day. How much do you think people selling pure water make per day?

they don't understand,they think we in the private sector can incentives.....in my case I will just add my own pass to government, anytime I get a contract job I will add to it and I will give reasons why I increased it and they can't complain.

The right way is to statutorily demand that they enroll them in pension fund and file PAYE report as well. The PAYE law should be amended to include all employers of labor and not only those who employ up to a certain number.

I know for Delta people pay sales girl 10k and them go use the.work 2month for that amount. You see how easy to place burden on other but the average individual in Nigeria is worst than government in his own small country.

#70,000 to me still doesn't meet up to the current reality in our present economy. Cost of food stuff and fuel are still at their alarming rate. Making the standard of living of an average Nigerian very low.

I never supported the minimum wage cause. It was only going to benefit the government workers.
