I will consider cooking by myself with two options. 1. When she's heavily pregnant knowing fully well that my attention is needed. 2. Whenever she's so sick beyond her strength. But if she intentionally decides not to cook for me in our matrimonial home, two things are involved. 1. She should forget asking for feeding fee. 2. She should get ready to carry her cross alone. Case closed..... |

Zonefree:You don't know the power a woman wields over a man that cannot cook. It is enourmous and I do not like people have a power or control over me. |

1Sharon:I totally agree with you,,, men should get up and cook if their wives refuses to cook,, your wife is not your slave, stop it! It's not good. . . Anyways, don't forget to send her packing,, two of you cannot be mad at the same time. |

Kennbliss:Also, you may have to cook for yourself when your wife has to look after sick relative, especially if the relative is her mother or father, because in those times, it's the ladies they call to look after them. (Even when they are oversease.). |

Zonefree:Why will any adult allow anyone to hold him/her hostage because of food. With 100MB you can find any recipe you want. Got to the market to get the ingredients and follow clear instructions. If you need tips to get a certain flavor or something, call the females in your family or friends. Food should not be an issue in 2024, unless you literally cannot make out the time to cook. -Lord |

I'm in the kitchen right now cooking while my wife is in the parlor. If you think you can maltreat with food, then you are a joker. Note: I have never met any woman that cooks better than me |

Zonefree:That your father cook while your mum and her siblings watch TV, doesn't mean it's the right thing. All of us can't be like your father |

Also, you may have to cook for yourself when your wife has to look after sick relative, especially if the relative is her mother or father, because in those times, it's the ladies they call to look after them. (Even when they are oversease.) That's noted too but else that, I'll stand by my statement. Thanks for your observation. |

VinnyBaba:'A husband should NOT be cooking' according to who? This is the 21st century bro, wake up. Have you ever dated a foreigner? Can you ever date/marry a foreigner without cooking for her? The same way you think you would treat that oyinbo woman or that black American woman, treat that beautiful black Nigerian queen, the same way. You should take good care of her and that includes getting into the kitchen occasionally. |

Cooking is a life skill, and should never be restricted to one gender. We are now at a time where single incomes no longer work... Wives have to earn to support the homes. How can you demand that a woman be doing domestic activities and equally supporting the home financially?!! In any case, it all comes down to understanding between couples with regards to duties and roles sharing. Except you don't want your wife to improve in her career or even grow beyond the home. Okonjo-Iweala, Awosika, etc, didn't get to where they are today by being domesticated...! Anyway, just have this discussion and agreement before heading to the altar for marriage. ![]() |

Zonefree:You're not seeing it from the other side bro. In a family setting there's what we call division of labour, that's a situation where members of a family are to carry out their expected duty in other to enhance functional family system. A man can not come back from work very tired and you'll be expecting him to go and start cooking when the wife is there doing nothing, is totally unacceptable. If she's a working class woman we might understand. Some women will even be watching movies at home while their spouse is starving, but they don't care. Couples are supposed to support each other in marriage by playing their roles effectively for the benefit of the children and family at large. If a man wants to cook it should be at his own free will not because his wife refused to do her primary duty after coming back from work. |
