Before, I was thinking same thing but I've come to the realization that Zinny won't play midfield and that's because of his height.

If you look at all the players that Arteta was linked to with the left 8, they all had height and were good aerially (probably to win headers when opponents clear the ball due to our press). Also, when defending in some situations, they can easily form a double 6 with their Dm. From Xhaka, to Havertz, to Rice and now we're being linked with Merino. All of them are very good and dominant aerially and can easily form a double 6 when the need arises. I doubt Zinny would fit into that.

Also, I don't think Rice struggled in that 8 position against low block, on the contrary, he excelled when deployed there against low blocks cos that's where we had all our 5-0 wins and was emptying stadiums in 2024.

It's one of the reasons I don't want us to get Merino but go for a proper Dm cos I want us to fully maximize Rice

He actually prefers both. He likes to be unpredictable. Calafiori, Timber and White are good inverted FBs. You see that Timber, you get his handle?

Yeah, but if you noticed, he was forced to use White as Inverted cos Kiwior wasn't good at it(after trying Kiwi countless times) hence Rb inverted was just like a plan B. Immediately Tomi was fit and displaced Kiwi, It was back to normal Lb Inverted. I think that's the main reason Calafiori was targeted cos he just prefers that left side.
