Education is not wisdom.
Convenant University produce most educated people in the country? I bet they won't even try this, they will only ask the student to leave the school until the hair is cut to their agreed standard just like North Korea.
Schools have laws pûnk!!! Stop acting like we are all bougie and shiit. In the north, their schools and Hisbah did this and more and y'all didn't do shiit ... Stop acting like this is a new trend or something. Gen Z people like you always scream on SM but won't follow basic rules

I support the lecturer 100%

If you don't want your hair to be cut, then stay in your house and dress anyhow you like.

I am a lecturer. My students don't dare nonsense. And guess what, they appreciate me because I lead by example.
Hmmm

You're not different from hisbah and their judges.

The lecturer is just being nice, if it were some lecturers they would just ask for the student mat number and the student would continue falling his course till he starts dressing well according to his profession.

Education is not all about passing exams, character is among.
Thank you for this

This just sounds stupid.

There are better ways to go about things.
We can't keep doing things the archaic ways and expect modern results, doesn't work that way.
He has done more to discourage that dude from education which is the exact opposite of his job.

If he joins a cult now, people will call him names but have you considered the mental impact this has had on him? One of the major reasons cultism is still a huge thing in higher institutions is because of the high-handedness of lecturers. Students who can't face them will choose to pour that frustration on their fellow students.

Things can't keep happening this way.
We keep building monsters with our methods and wondering where things went wrong. It's not the devil, IT IS US! WE ARE THE DEVIL!

So after cautioning him, what happened to excusing him from your class or making an official report to the departmental office or HOD?

Why have you Nigerians turned absurdities to the norm? "even my lecturers then yen yen yen" and you can say this nonsense with pride in 2024 in a country with a constitution and you wonder why most of you find it hard to adapt in nations that respect human rights?

It's this same set of people that will come tomorrow to accuse the government of human rights violations but what do we call this? Very archaic, savage, and myopic way of addressing issues.

If the dude decides to act violently, do you think he won't win by claiming self-defense? You have an adult coming at him in a vulnerable position with a weapon. Is it until someone sees brutal repercussions before every other person will have a sense of boundaries and civility?

I tire for una mehn.
Act violently... Lolzzzz ... E dey pain you pass person wey leave lecturer cut him hair ... Afofun... Only violence you know... The lecturer will do the same to you and nothing will happen... Nothing you are going to do else you end in jail

It's only in Africa you see such type of things, keeping hair is a human right, if the school is against that the lecturer should report to the school security. That lecturer is very stupid and needs to be sacked. He's a type that will molest students.

How has study got to do with hairstyles, the worst he can so is to tell him to get out of his class. At no point does he have the right to cut his hair without his permission. The lecturer could get sue, and perhaps pay for damages.

Okay the lecturer is law enforcer?
Now how are you different from the Hisbah?

Do you know why that guy allowed that to happen? It's because the lecturer may fail him if he challenges him with his right, Nigeria government don't give a damn on the guys right.

This is how these lecturers use the little power they wield to take advantage of female student.

Why will you cut someone's hair when you are not his parents, your duty is to teach not to tell a grown up man how to dress
You guys should stop being senselessly woke, each school has their code of conduct both in character, dressing and learning which ranges from suspension to expulsion when you default, and I am so sure of UNIZIK because I did I diploma in the school and you sign these things during initial registration. Also, the school have their code of dressing written and pasted on strategic notice boards inside the campus. Why coming to the school when you can't keep to their rules? Why flounting the agreement you signed?? If I am the lecturer I will recommend him for appropriate punishment!!
This is how people begin to cultivate the habit of lawlessness at young ages!!

Most of you are stupid after you insult and commit unimaginable abomination against those that instill value and trade into you,
When you get to where their labour and investment in you will start feeding and giving you life pleasure and fulfillment you will abide by the rules of those you are giving what the people you didn't respect have given you in exchange for a life time opportunities.
Wisdom.

This doesn't make any sense. Lack of exposure is the cause of this kinda mentality. If a lecturer fails a brilliant student because of his character in a modern society, the lecturer will definitely loose his job. You only need to call for your papers and make a case to the board of examiners. Nigeria is indeed a jungle!

Some 18+ is young age? 18+ in a reasonable society is considered an adult with capacity to make good decisions and judgement. Plenty 19 in America and England that are fathers doing jobs to look after their family. You need to wake up!

You are the stupid one here. The guy is at a particular age in life where he could be adventurous in everything he does including is choice of hairstyle. At 40, this guy could probably be bald and rock a skin cut. In a modern society, people appreciate this and let people live their best lifes as long as it doesn't hurt others. Unfortunately Nigeria is a jungle where parents beat thier children to stupor all in the name of discipline when it is actually out of frustration of hunger and anger and nothing happens. There is no decorum in Nigeria and this is why a lecturer is bringing a scissors to class. Even if the school has its rules and regulations, are there no procedures regarding deterrence?

So because the dude is young and could be bald by 40, he should rock any hairstyle he likes when the school rules say otherwise? Then you equate the age-old 'spare the rod and spoil the child routine' to frustration on the part of parents? You are one lost soul and your kids are gonna turn out very bad. Y'all always quick to quote the whites when it comes to unrestricted freedom which equates to lax discipline but quick to forget that your own culture has a significant component of moral virtues and values attached.
