Kukutente23:Because benue is the largest yam producing state doesn’t mean new yam will be more expensive than benue yam Even in OYO, when it’s yam season new yam is cheaper than “Abuja yam”. You people should leave internet and touch grass |

emmy9500:Na...it's quite reasonable at 15k, even though it's new yam. Three of those will go for minimum of 7k in Ibadan because yam is sold in 3s. |

Houseontherock1:Well, I haven’t seen or price new yam for sale this year, so my pricing might be off…. When I was staying at Ijaye, a community after moniya I buy directly from the farmers and I am sure even with this Tinubu economy I won’t buy that yam from them for 15k (they might shock me sha) |

Kukutente23:It’s not a matter of who has more yam. For a state whose indigenous food is pounded yam, you should know they have adequate yam |

Kukutente23:Almost no state in south west will import in new yam, most new yam are locally grown in the state The reason why south west state import yam is because of storage. peak yam season you will see truck of yam leaving southwest because they don’t have facilities to store them Ondo, OYO, Ekiti, Kwara are also top yam producing states in Nigeria |

obonujoker:It depends where you are buying from. Maybe lekki and Ajah where things are arbitrarily expensive. I bought Yams on Friday, one tuber is twice a tuber in the picture if not a bit more for 5k. Although, I bought at mile 12 market. |

Kukutente23:A tuber of yam costs less in Ekiti. You have serious comprehension issues. I've reiterated this over and over again. Niger, Benue and Taraba were producing the most populous when it comes to yam farming but that is not the case today. Yam is cheaper in Ekiti because you can get a reasonably large tuber for 2k. I know this because I have people who travel down west and buy in trucks. So I want to understand you correctly. If a tuberof yam in Abuja, which you claims produces more yams than ekiti goes for 5k. How much would someone buy yam if there's no one farming yam in Abuja? 10k a tuber maybe? 😀 You are arguments are just outright baseless and holds no water. |
