Almost no state in south west will import in new yam, most new yam are locally grown in the state

The reason why south west state import yam is because of storage. peak yam season you will see truck of yam leaving southwest because they don’t have facilities to store them

Ondo, OYO, Ekiti, Kwara are also top yam producing states in Nigeria
Many people do not know that geographically Oyo is more Northern than Benue
Osogbo is at the same latitude as Markurdi and have similar terrain and rainfall

10 tubers of that size at 15k translates to N1500 per tuber. Very cheap. A tube of that size can't be less than N2500 in lagos.
Obleeee a tuber of that size in lagos costs nothing less than 4500

There is nothing fair about it, it's too costly and we are not going to get use to this hardship caused by bad governance. The plan will not work, let the government do the right thing

In your dull mind, yam is cheaper in ekiti than North abi?
When we tell you to move around, you'll sit in your hamlet writing rubbish.
apart from Abuja and benue, where in the north can you find yam tubers in Large quantities,it's actually sw people fault, that have abandoned farming for other regions, everyone want their children to put on tie

Oga I'm in Ekiti right now. Last market in Omuo. I bought 5 pcs of small yams for 1,500. I was told that yam doesn't cost pass 500 before.

Bro, go Ilasa in Ekiti and you will get that quantity for lesser pay. But I can tell you yams r cheaper in Ekiti than north, but Ekiti yams r not as big as the Abuja yams
the major cause of that is the species of yam used in the southwest plus most of the famers up north are heavily subsidize with fertilizers by their state government, that's hardly the case down south .

You're right. Everyone wants their kids to put on tie in the SW
But you can get such big yams in Niger too
Las Las, north central zone is the food belt of Nigeria
Anyone comparing Ekiti to Niger and Benue in terms of yam doesn't know what he's saying

Haba!! Did you skip the part that says yam is grown in every part of Nigeria? Before going to list the frontline states for yam production.
This is English o. Don't come and disgrace yourself

You can't even get this for 15k in the North

Modified: For all the ignoramus quoting me, learn today that Benue is the chief yam producing state in Nigeria. Don't just sit in your village and be making comments to those who have travelled widely. Google Zaki Ibiam Yam market for further info. The Gwaris, Gbagyi and Igedes are the chief yam producing tribes in Nigeria and they are in the North Central.
Benue is now embattled. Yam can grow anywhere in Nigeria. Do not leave your food production up to one particular region. They will hold you ransom one day just as they are holding us now.
