The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, has said that no one has the power or command to stop Nigerians from carrying out the planned nationwide #EndBadGovernanceainNigeria protest.

Ngelale, who said this during an interview on TVC programme stressed that Nigerians had the constitutional right to peaceful protest, and no one, not even in Tinubu's government could deny them their right.

The President’s spokesperson said, "There is nobody within our administration that has the standing, the command, or the gravitas to tell Nigerians that they cannot peacefully protest and that they cannot peacefully protest in any part of the country.

"We are not in office to dominate our people, we are in office to serve our people. And this is the position of the president.

"President Bola Tinubu has been very clear that the notion of peaceful protest is a central component of an effective function in democracy.''

Speaking further, he stressed, "Anyone who disagrees with the notion from inside the government, the notion that we are here to serve our people and not dominate them, they are lining up themselves against the Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who will defend the right of Nigerians to peaceful protest in any part of the country. And we want to be very unequivocal about that."

I encourage Nigerians who are concerned about the current level of hunger and hardship, to come out to protest peacefully like VDM.
VDM didn't commit a crime. Protesting peacefully is never a crime.

And it is the job of the police to ensure the rights of peaceful protesters is not infringed upon.

Gathering for protests? Please, let’s not kid ourselves. This government has shown time and again that they don’t play nice with dissent. Those who think they can gather without consequences are living in a fantasy. Protests in Nigeria often lead to chaos and destruction, and the last thing we need is more violence on our streets. Ajuri might want to rethink his stance; the reality is that the government will clamp down hard on any form of unrest. It’s better to channel our energy into constructive dialogue rather than risking our safety for empty rhetoric.
