Lol, na dem GRV crew Doherty go be, he's even part German too...the way I see e profile, its possible he can't speak Yoruba sef.

On paper he's a solid candidate, though I haven't really seen him speaking live and direct.
A greater part of winning elections is connecting to the wants and desires of your voting base. It remains for us to see what Doherty stands for regarding protecting the culture of his state. It is equally as important as his economic brilliance

No matter how good Asue is in economy, there are many Edolites that would be turned off by his inability to speak Ishan. E get reason why Olumide with his Legal background and brilliance was speaking Edo, singing in Edo and showing he is a son of the soil. You cannot win elections without connecting to the people

People vote mote for who they like than who they think can do the job

Thank you Mr izzou grin grin grin grin

On a serious note, I feel the continual detention of Kanu is unfair in all ramifications. This is why.
If kanu is released, it can calm already volatile atmosphere in some parts of the country and can change the narratives and provide the basis for political stability in Nigeria as a whole.
Having him released and bring him to the table will go a long way to change the mindset and ease the tension in the region
This is someone that controls the narrative of millions of people. Having dialogues and negotiations with him provide efficient solutions than this shenanigans with court up and down.

It might even surprise you that south east might go on " Marchfortinubu" on August 1st. If he is released. grin grin grin grin grin
So if Kanu is released and pardoned, then why shouldnt Simon Ekpa and other worse than him to come in future?

I didn't say this. You mentioned that if police stop me for over-speeding, my excuse will be why didn't they stop others overspeeding in front of me.

And I make bold to say that on a normal day, such scenario will ring bell to an individual ear Especially in multi- ethnic country like Nigeria, Don't you think their failure to stop others do mean it's a selective prosecution? Like we have some people above the law while others are second class citizens that must be prosecuted?
But you said this

reccy:
The best thing is to explain the logic behind stopping me while others are allow to continue their overspeeding!

Modified.

I'm wrong accepted. What moral do you have when you, the law enforcers, are also breaking the same law?
Others are now above the law? We are all partner in crime. No come preach wetin no gel.
That the police are breaking speed limit and traffic lights, does that give you the ground to do the same

That they didnt catch some criminals is not an excuse for anyone. There are people smuggling drugs abroad and not arrested, shey you sef go try am and when caught point to the people they didnt catch as your excuse

So what happens to all what he had done? What if he has plans of violence under his sleeves, when he is released?

Or we should just forget about how this guy ran a radio station, and was dishing out hate and violent vibes day to day?

Na why i blame Buhari. If this matter had been addressed back then, the whole country would have moved on.

Now, you are even seeing him as a path to peace.

Lol grin
Advocating for his release is me comparing or try to figure out the downside if he continues to be in detention.

What he did were wrong and I believe an honest dialogue with him and various stakeholders might prevent the impending doom. Remember, the last option in a conflict is always the least heeded before it begins.

This is the time where Peter Obi would be organising rallies and building his support base of he was really serious

This is going to be another pointless round of protests, that may lead some unfortunate acts of looting and violence.

The protest is pointless because even if Nigeria wasnt setup to fail from it's inception - which it was, Nigeria is also fully the victim of state capture.

A protest for better governance- yes, but a protest to whom? When has a thief ever agreed to stop stealing your shït because you asked nicely? Or not nicely sef.

The best chance (and it's a very minute one) that Nigerians have of achieving some form of change to the status quote, is the possibleemergence of an anti-establishment figure capitalising on the frustration of Nigerians to build his/her forces for a credible run at next election.

I personally don't believe Obi is such a person, but if he's half the guy obedient claim he is, then I'd expect to see him at the very least making plays to hijack these elections to make very specific pitches to the people. Why not issue a very detailed manifesto? Maybe even go as far as announcing a shadow cabinet with ministers to shadow all current ministries now, using publicly available figures and policy documents to announce to the people how they would do things better instead of Obi's usual quoting of gas-based statistics.

The atmosphere is ripe for true opposition politics to be played if there are players willing to play the game.

Instead, we're likely going to see more cruise, more vibes, and the births of a few more twatter shitfluencers.

Mehn abandon all hope, all ye who enter this useless country.

With the way there's tribal and religious colouration in every post, Obi, or any body wey put body for this protest go collect.

You would expect the crowd protesting on Thursday to vote out APC in 2027, but no. When that time reach, na another music these same people go sing.

Its better the protest just comes and goes, and hopefully, the people channel that anger into their thumbs during the next election

All the countries doing protest nor dey wait for the political figure to help.

When you suffer reach, nobody go tell you to protest.
Make Obi put body so we will hear how Igbos are leading the charge to burn the country.

As if the EndSars is not been blamed on IPOB when till today people refuse to acknowledge the numerous evidence showing government officials transporting people that caused damage.

If the country wants to kukuma scatter.. That's fine.. Good luck to everyone involved

Which law enforcer is breaking the law? You as a citizen does not have the same right as the law enforcer, You usually see emergency services like Fire, Police break speed limits, break traffic lights in the course of their work, you as a citizen cannot do all these

So trying to equate your right to that of a law enforcer is offside like Morata
Timbros, you see your Morata supporter back then? Both of you are confirmed Chelsea enemies.

Obi was a tribal candidate imho but I'm not prepared to rehash old argument.

Opposition politics is dirty af. It's not that long ago we saw somebody literally try to kill Donald Trump at a rally.

The biggest problem with Nigeria is the system. Soldier come, Soldier go, but every leader dey thief. It's not like Nigeria has exclusive rights to host all expatriate demons working remotely from Hell. But when you have such a broken system, what else can you expect?

This is an opportunity for a candidate who truly detests the system to start playing his/her hand. The example I gave of announcing a shadow cabinet is a play for organic votes because theoretically you can't use those posts to reward your hypemen post election.

The reason I mentioned Obi is because Obidients spent so much of last year claiming he fit the required profile. How is it that on the cusp of a nationwide protest, his opportunity to sell his message to the millions of frustrated Nigerians, his own spokesman is literally quiting the party and announcing his lack of confidence in PO, whilst simultaneously being denounced as a mole by the party ? To make matters worse, Obi doesn't even agree with his party either grin

Brah it's a shambles.

That's why I always say Nigeria is a finished country. There's literally no hope.

Your suggestion would be perfect if there was actually just one voice from the people.

How come we have been seeing Obi and Atiku tackle Tinubu since last year, but the moment this protest was conceived, both of them went mute.

We have seen protesters protesting against the protesters; The same masses that are tired.

Our situation is complex, and i agree with you that there is no hope.

Luckily for all the presidential candidates, they are rich enough to flex till they die. The losers are all of us that queued under rain to vote.

Make everybody just hustle and take care of their future.

Like Izzou succinctly put it, the 2 main opposition contestants from last election cycle are quiet in the face of what could potentially be the biggest protest activities in Nigeria's history.

What is there to be hopeful about?

The myriad of problems facing Edo, Some people are concerned with a candidate ability to speak his local language so much that one a former NBA chairman made a song in Edo language

Its also same in every state in the country e.g in Anambra state, with their myriad of problems where Peter Obi campaigned against Ngige for running on Yoruba party and coming out to campaign on Ofala day

In some states the debate is even in their native language
