The first issue is the rain situation, how is the rain situation in your area? In some parts of the South West rain hasn't fallen in like a month. Also corn now very expensive and largely unavailable even though this is supposed to be the peak season. People how planted cassava in the February are already harvesting or planing to harvest even though it's not due, this is cos of scarcity. No thanks to Chinese n other companies who now buy cassava tubers for uses other than food consumption. If u have the means this is the time u should plan for dry season irrigation farming. May God help us by sending rain |

When I read NIMET's rainfall prediction for this year CRISIS is exactly what came to my mind. If after last year's bountiful rainfall we are complaining of food shortages what happens when there is even less rain? I hate to be a prophet of doom but 2025 is looking very tough. |

You made sense. The dynamics has changed due to climate, hunger, demand/price increas, and lack of support. |

Why the government is silent as if there will be no consequences if rain fall doesn't continue. This is the time we have to learn cheap irrigation methods. |

recklesslove:The government or the people in the urban do not know the extent of the damage. Farms are beginning to fail. Crops are beginning to suffer, but who will tell the stories in the hinterlands to the world |

Ops good observation, I am really surprised how these Chinese companies are buying cassava that are not even strong. They go to farm land now to buy cassava from farmers. I understand now that an acre of cassava farm is around 1.2million and they are buying even the ones that are not strong. Advice to everyone, if you have free land close to your residence try and farm on it because it may be really hard next year... |
