Lagos Protesters Defy Court Order, March To Governor’s Office by nairalandkachy1(op): 10:43am On Aug 01, 2024
#Endbadgovernance protesters have begun to march into the Lagos State Governor’s Office in Alausa despite court orders restricting them to Ketu and Ojota parks, causing gridlock on the roads.

Some of the protesters marched from Ikeja Underbridge as they chose to move to the state government office on Thursday morning.

One of the protesters insisted on going to Alausa rather than the police’s Ojota suggestion.

“The police want to force us to Ojota, Ojota is for Tinubu’s boys. We want to march from here to Governor’s Office,” he told FIJ.

There were barriers on the way to the governor’s office. FIJ saw that the road leading to the governor’s office was blocked by barricades in preparation for protesters.

As seen on EiE’s website, the protesters are to converge on specific locations in Lagos, Oyo, Bauchi, Rivers, Abuja, Plateau, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Edo states between 9 am and 6 pm to express their demands to the Federal Government.

The Government Secretariat in Alausa is the listed location for the protests in Lagos, but more protesters have appeared in other parts of the state.

Nigerians are protesting between August 1 and August 10 against economic hardship and bad governance, the nationwide protests coming after months of higher electricity tariffs, costly petrol and food inflation.

Police should be at the forefront of the protest because their condition of service is nothing to write home about.

I saw about 6 policemen pushing their Toyota Hilux yesterday somewhere in Abuja, around zone 4, I drove past them. I pity them.

They're being used.

This protest looks like it will be peaceful till Blood thirsty trigger hungry police men kills one person then it escalates.

The police should just provide cover. If it escalates, the elite won't survive it. Our police and Army put together is 600k service men.

The protest already failed!

Protest that make impacts are not planned. They are triggered by events that snowball into a resistance.
