| Why Protesting Or Rebelling Against The Ruler Is Not Always The Solution? by Lukgaf(op): 7:23am On Aug 02, 2024 |
Nobody likes bad leaders, poor governance, or insecurity. We all desire to live safely in our country, find employment, conduct our businesses with ease, and enjoy the resources that Allah has blessed us with, just like people in other countries. However, when we have leaders or live in a country where we don't enjoy these benefits, protesting or rebelling against the ruler is not always the solution. Many real-life incidents confirm that such actions often worsen the situation rather than improve our well-being and governance. A typical example is what happened during the 2020 EndSARS protest in Nigeria, as well as in Sudan, Kenya, and other places where protests led to more chaos. Why people should refrain from protesting? The basic principle of Shariah is that it is not permitted to remove an evil by means of a greater evil; evil must be warded off by that which will remove or reduce it. Warding off evil by means of a greater evil is not permitted according to the scholarly consensus (ijmaa’) of the Muslims.IslamQA Strikes and protests can result in greater trouble, leading to chaos, oppression, and the assassination of innocent people. This has been observed in states like Kano, Borno, Kaduna, and Yobe yesterday. What is the solution? We should all fear Allah – both leaders and followers. Often, we deserve the kind of leaders we have because we, the followers, are even worse. I watched a video of some guys destroying a traffic light. How does protesting justify destroying properties? You complain of bad governance, yet you destroy the little you enjoy? أفلا تعقلون؟ (Will you not reason?) Our leaders should remember that they will stand before the Lord of the worlds and account for whatever they have done, including how many lives were lost or people suffered as a result of their bad policies. Where are the past bad leaders? They are no more, and you too will be no more one day. So, a good leader should reflect on this. Umar (رضي الله عنه) said during his regime that if a horse stumbled due to bad roads, he would be held accountable for it. That's why records show that he and other past leaders would sneak into people's houses at night to check on their affairs. Our leaders should emulate this. Advice to Those Close to Leaders Those who are close to the leaders – their advisers and assistants – should fear Allah and tell them the truth. Many are sycophants who tell the leaders what they want to hear, lying that everything is good for their own benefit. They should remember the day they will stand before Allah and that whatever prestige or wealth they accumulate will end in this world. Leaders should be ready to listen to the truth. Role of the Elites and Religion leaders Our elites and those close to our leaders should explain the situation and advise on how it can be resolved. They should not leave them! May Allah bless our country. Abu Afs Lukgaf |

See the lives and property loss in just 24 hours especially in the North and Edo! Some take protest as an avenue to gaslight BAT and other leaders! Some just want cheap fame! Some want to promote their wares! Many want to steal and loot! Some just want an avenue to say "didn't we tell you"!

Allah (SWT) instructed all Muslim faithfuls to resist and depart from bad leaders, if you don't believe I'll find the verse in Al Qurani and hadith and share it here.If you think Nigerians should not protest against Tinubu because he's a Muslim faithful, then you have been misled. Tinubu is an idol worshiper, no real Muslim will sit down on a chair in the mosque front while everyone is on the mat. Tinubu is an idol worshiper and he will be exposed. |

This is a sensitive topic and care must be taken with opinions and comments shared. It'll be a bit hard for many to be objective and at the same time religious on this thread. |

I'm not a Muslim and the oath I took is nonsense but I like that you used the word ruler because we don't have leaders in Nigeria and Africa as a whole |

Islamic brain washing and under educating the Northerners is part of a huge reason why we are still here.... Most of those imams come to Abuja to collect envelopes then go talk shit to their congregants who prefer fighting for Allah and landing 72 Virgins than getting educated and getting out of religious boxes and ideologies |

I renounce the Oath @seun is forcing upon me before I could post on this section. On other trends, like Christianity, this is not there. @seun, you're anti-free speech! @OP, protest is not evil. And that it CAN turn evil doesn't make it so. If you think not, then using Nairaland is evil because it can also make you evil. How? I leave that to you. I wonder how you got the impression that protest is the solution. And you looked at ENDSARS, Kenya's Antifianance protest, etc to conclude that "protest not alway the solution". Anyway, it has shown to be one of the very few things that scares the rulers however destruction that may occur. #ProtestPeacefully. It's your right. |

But it's possible in Egypt, Morroco, Tunisia, Libya and Yemen during Arab Spring.(Islamic nations) It possible in Thailand. It was possible in Nigeria in 2012 during Jonathan. And recently in Kenya among others. Even prophet Muhammad and his jihadists protested ,fought and conquered established authority during his time.( Several causalities recorded ooo) If it's to fight for God, whom you claimed he is Almighty, you would support that! I advise you to be teaching things that are sensible to common sense and not like slaves.

This is supposed to be in politics session. The purpose of a protest is to infuse fear in the ruling class so that they are forced to quickly take action. Protests, often leads to riot. Like the french revolution, the ruilling class will fear that their properties will be looted and their lives at stake and pressure the president to act. |

Rice is the center piece of Tinubu's governance model. There's inflation - share rice. Fuel cost is too high - share rice. Unemployment is extremely high - share rice. There's insecurity - share rice. People are frustrated and are poised to protest - share more and more rice. Lol Are we refugees in our country? |

Pathetic religious sentiments. My only regret about the violence is that it may not yield any desired result as it is perpetrated. But if violence is the only way, the. Let there be violence. |

All I see is pure hypocrisy During Jonathan era no single prominent islamic voice is against the protest Up till now so many protests are happening in uk, us and Europe in solidarity with Palestine none of you ever called them out that it's not the way to go Top Muslims like Buhari, Tinubu and Atiku even led protest in 2012 yet they were called sai Baba rather than haram Baba If what we have as president is a Southern Christian trust the protest to be worse, if it's southern Muslims the protest will be moderate and if its northern Muslims it will be no protest Is that what your quran thought you See terrorist Basir Ahmed post when protest is halal
