Android17:OH really? OBJ didn't do anything special? The Telecommunications sector just miraculously started booming? The debt forgiveness by OBJ and okonji? How much was given to Nigeria after these sanctions where lifted up? For the GEJ, please tell us how they changed the metrics. You can't just say they did that without showing us working so we can learn about this magic done. Corruption fought back and yet she was very successful during her time with the help of OBJ which is the most important thing. You haven't said anything about Okonjo to disclaim her success as finance minister. Please disrespect Adesina. Thanks |

Ibime:It sounds cruel and derogatory until you hear the insanely stupid takes from so called online thought leaders of the north who claim they were somehow deceived into rioting. One thing has changed and that is that it is no longer foreign tribes the urchins are robbing and killing and beating, but their own kinsmen |

Foreign investors left Nigeria during the military regime and came back during civilian rule which fell on OBJs laps The Bush administration was pushing debt forgiveness to many African countries https://www.theguardian.com/world/2005/jun/07/hearafrica05.development |

All this talk of subsidy was removed to save cost would have made sense if the same Govt didn't spend 90billion to subsidize Hajj, spend 21billion to complete a house for VP when the Aguda House is befitting, spend 150billion (allegedly) to buy a new PJ amongst other wasteful spendings, while the country grapple with hyperInflation. You saved money by removing subsidy on Petroleum, Education, Power and then spend some of the saved money on useless projects that add no value to our economy. Will this Polithiefcians die if they do the right thing while stealing with sense, a serving Minister was recently accused of buying his forth House in Canada 1 year plus in office. Sultan of Sokoto said in January i think that the only reason the Northern youth are not on the street protesting the hardship is because they still obey him and other Northern Leaders, that the moment they stop listening and obeying them the North and Nigeria might burn. Crises like this could lead to a coup de ta if not well managed by the President, and this may be what the North want. After several meetings were held in Daura between Buhari and some Northern leaders, their people suddenly championed a hunger protest. I hope President Tinubu is fully in control of his Military as Commander-in-Chief, and also has spies within the rank and file. The insensitivity of Govt to the plight of Nigerians is just too obvious and annoying, and it is so because they are never the target when the masses are running mad with anger like we are currently seeing in the North. Govt at all levels should wake up to their responsibilities, before the unexpected happens..... |

Lol same old excuses. Like Buhari like Tinubu. Buhari set Nigeria back many years facts. If one year is like this, only God knows how Nigeria will be after 4 years of this disaster of a president. I mean we all knew he had nothing to offer but this level of incompetency is really a discovery. Nigerians have never seen anything close to this level of deterioration we are experiencing on all levels. |

| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Ellexy: 8:24pm On Aug 02, 2024 |
According to Raumdeuter, Tinubu won't go back on paying subsidy no matter the protest, but we are paying more subsidy now than when he entered. Lamba president, gullible followers. |

liveLongNprospa:No matter how they try and twist it though, they can't argue with their realities (especially those in Naija), life was easier in certain administrations, and harder in others... abroadians can keep quoting statistics (be like we don dey chop statistics ), but like Ibime would say, reality is undefeated. Every administration has the challenges and advantages their administration enjoyed. I'm sure if you sat an Obasanjo down and asked him the challenges he had to surmount, 3 hrs e go still dey talk. We can't argue reality, and the reality remains that life has been hardest for the average Nigerian under the APC administration. No matter the twisting and turning that's done, that's the fact. |

raumdeuter:Other African countries reignited bilateral trades. Econet, MTN were able to do/ start business within Nigeria hence GSM. EU that only gave humanitarian aides started offering development support. They offered OBJ billions of foreign currency to DEVELOP his country. They helped with repatriated funds. Monies stolen by past governments started being refunded. Cc LiveLongNprospa I'm not going to do your homework for you. Rebasing just means changing the base for which the economy (specifically GDP) should be compared to. It is wishy-washy as I can decide to compare my economic growth from any time to make the numbers look fantastic. If the per capita GDP has not changed, then my useless metric does not translate to truly getting wealthier. Think of it this way. If you had 5 dogs (male and female genders) and only N1000 to tend to them in 2020 and now they've mated and had puppies so your total dogs in 2024 is 15 yet you still have only N1200 to take care of them, did you get richer? |

It's going 10 years now that APC has been in charge, and it's been the 10 unique years in the history of Nigeria where nothing at all was going an administration way...last last una go wash una head. |

| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Theflint1(m): 8:46pm On Aug 02, 2024 |
raumdeuter:Maybe the more important question should be what our per capita income was when PDP handed over to APC, and what's our per capita income today. We've always had a huge population, Nigeria did not magically become a populated country under the APC...the world's population in 2015 is not world's population in 2024. How, despite our population were Nigerians living better under PDP vs now under APC. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Theflint1(m): 8:48pm On Aug 02, 2024 |
raumdeuter:Whether you borrow to pay salaries, or to run capital projects, what matters is how your borrowing affects bottom line. America borrows money, PDP borrowed money, APC has been and continues to borrow money. Why has APCs borrowing not translated to an improved standard of living for the average Nigerian ? |
