Theflint1:Now juxtapose this with the last Presidential election where you have Tinubu, Atiku and Obi. You know Obaseki failed yet you are supporting his party candidate and "hoping" to see how it goes. Why then were you angry with those that still voted for Tinubu after Buhari and "hoping" to see how it goes? |

larride:Didn't say Obaseki failed though, in certain areas he did terribly, and in others he's doing quite well. Edo State hasn't really had transformative governors, Lucky failed, Oshiomhole was a major upgrade on Lucky, and Obaseki is not exactly shy off Oshiomhole's performance....as regards the candidates running, there's a sentiment that whoever is next governor should be from Edo Central (this probably makes the LP candidate's claim difficult), and for those of us not exactly focused on representation, I think AI is the better of the two sensible candidates (LP and PDP)...individually or a mix of both reasons, I think PDP continuing is the logical path for the state. Nigeria though, Obasanjo years were good enough, Yaradua/Jonathan was a drop from the OBJ years, but you could still say we were making progress... The Buhari years marked a very sharp drop in practically every growth metric and it's looking like Tinubu can't manage the mess he inherited from Buhari. Buhari's 8 years wasn't just Buhari, it was APC and the major players in its creation, that failure was shared, and enough for us to seek course correction given we had somewhat decent options running against the party. Or is it the fact that APC has consistently given us candidates with questionable cognitive abilities, abi it's the extremely polarizing nature of the politics the party plays, or the general lack of professionalism by appointees and elected officials (i.e. our garrulous VP). APC has in all honesty been a mess at the centre, and at this point it doesn't matter what their intentions may or may not be, it's just not working. We're worse off having APC at the center. Some persons yesterday were alluding to the party being unlucky with global economic trends (i.e. price of oil), well if it has to come down to us being superstitious, they should step aside for a party that might have better luck. APC is Jonah in Nigeria's boat. |
