ceejayluv:Yeah, so? And it has probably lost just as much due to selling under subsidy The harsh truth is, if you are operating at a loss, all that money is going to be stolen over time or lost via loss making sales. That's how damaging subsidy is. Because free money is coming in and you really do not need to be profitable to make cash, corruption and looting will resukt Venezuela does subsides..and it's largest refinery produces at less than one ninth the former capacity . Same issue. Is Nnpc.running Venezuela refining? The long and short is, if nnpc was allowed to operate profitably, that 40 million would be well spent. Dangote can do what he did because the banks know that if he messes up , they can get their money back. Plus since he most likely would sell at a profit , the refinery would work. Because if it loses money, there would be no government rescue via finances and subsides. So it has to work Free money is an easy way to sabotage anything..making people work for a profit is a way to ensure stuff works |

nairalanda1:Oya na, the subsidy has been removed, why the backpedalling in the supply of crude to Dangote?. And why the perennial postponement of the start of operation of Nnpc refineries. The political Will is not there. Tinubu is the Minister of petroleum, I presume. He had to wait till Dangote And Nigerians cried out before he approved the sale of crude to Dangote. Left for them, we'll keep buying from Malta. |

[quote author=Nvestor02 post=131317491][/b] If Tunibu decides to remove the subsidy, it would make him seem like the most incompetent president ever. But I know how brave Tunibu is, and I believe no amount of criticism will stop him from pushing Nigeria forward. Thanks. Removing the subsidy is their main demand because the people behind this protest are the ones benefiting from it, and they want it back to drain Nigeria even more. This decision is the right move to improve Nigeria. We've already seen how he increased the allocation by 41%. I can't understand what these people are thinking when they say Timangu is on the wrong path. To make Nigeria better, everyone needs to make sacrifices. What you eat is your responsibility than the government's. Let that really sink in. [/quote The political class must make sacrifices too. They have to cut down all their expenses too and stop purchasing luxury cars and using tax payers money to fund their health care abroad. Enough is enough. The masses alone can't be the ones to make sacrifices. Govt is given free fuel but I pay for fuel. Who is fooling who? Who is making sacrifices? |

Salewa97:What discomfort is he taking or the discomfort is meant for the masses alone? Politicians get free fuel. I have to buy expensive fuel. They get free fuel out of the numerous free goodies that they get along with their families. E go clear for Una eyes soon |

The protest should continue, The shooting of protesters in the north was deliberate, One aboki that was interviewed on aljazeera, who is a government made a mistake, slip of tongue and said the soldiers were told to shoot any protester but immediately corrected himself, We need to fight back, Tinubu should be paid 70k minimum wage too , let's see how he will live |

Kuginzi:Quotable quotes from a man that bought his election into the highest office of the land . I voted Obi because he was the least of the devils contesting . Tinubu was as the biggest devil of all . Very corrupt to the bone . A man who has robbed his way into power . Unfortunately Nigerians are also if not more corrupt . Nigeria is a corruption competition . |

Nvestor02:So the removal of subsidy is what you call A BRAVE ACT from Tunubu? No Sir.. That is a wicked and insensitive act! As long as we do not have functional refineries yet, subsidy removal remains callous, demonic, insensitive and wicked. Let at least 2 of our refineries start working and then the wicked old man can remove his subsidy... As for being Brave. The only brave thing Tunubu could do now is to bring back subsidy, then grow the balls to deal with the so called subsidy cabal. Tunubu should arrest and prosecute any corruption in the subsidy regime. Arrest them and jail them, he is the C in C for fuccks sake .. Then he can talk about being Brave! But for now there is no bravery in removing subsidy.. He should drop his old, weak and shrunken balls and grow some steel balls. Reintroduce subsidy and fight the subsidy cabal! |

How do you mean we pay in $? Do you buy petrol from fuel station in $? Are you saying NNPC is buying petrol $1/liter and selling to Nigerians at N650/liter. Who pays the difference of N950? MasterTeeUSA: |

adanny01:The question was can we really afford subsidy? Buhari was borrowing to fund subsidy and defend naira which exactly was the reason why at a point almost all our revenue goes to debt servicing? How long can we continue down that road? . Do you think what's happening in Venezuelan or Zimbabwe isn't possible in Nigeria? |
| Re: Tinubu Rules Out Return Of Fuel Subsidy, Says Decision Painful But Necessary by cornelman: 10:07am On Aug 04, 2024 |
But just yesterday, Minister Bagudu was saying the money obtained from fuel subsidy removal is what NNPCL is using to pay subsidy. So, technically, there is still fuel subsidy according to him. Please, who is deceiving who? Some of you are very far from seat of power but talk as if you make decisions together and you understand what they are doing up there. As it stands today, there is no clear accountability of the money obtained from subsidy removal. So you can clearly say it is beneficial for the masses. Nvestor02: |

PARADIZEPRIEST:Dont be ignorant. Tinubu does not make all this determination. He simply follows the constitution. He even went to the extent of suing all the Governors to get the Local Govt full autonomy, a case that he won. What else do you want? |
