Rishi Sunak who lost his bid to retain his seat as UK Prime Minister has backed the UK government led by Keir Starmer and the police to deal with those behind the protests against migrants in his country. In a post on X, he said, "The shocking scenes we’re seeing on the streets of Britain have nothing to do with the tragedy in Southport. "This is violent, criminal behaviour that has no place in our society. "The police have our full support to deal with these criminals swiftly and they must face the full weight of the law." But in Nigeria, despite lives being lost in the #EndBadGovernance protest, Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar who, like Sunak, lost the 2023 presidential election to President Bola Tinubu are egging the protesters on. Obi shared on X, "I wish to most sincerely pass my condolences to the families of all those who lost their lives in the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests. I deeply mourn these brothers and sisters of ours, who have lost their lives in their struggle for a better nation. "I do hope that their legitimate demands, within the law, will not go unanswered. I will continue to urge the protesters to be of good behaviour and remain peaceful in their actions. "I encourage them to shun every form of violence, as we cannot build a new nation by destroying what we already have. I also call on the security agencies to remain civil in their security of lives and property in the ongoing protests." On his part, Atiku encouraged the protests despite multiple reports of violence and looting of public and private properties, with arson not left out. He shared on X, "For the most part, protesters have conducted themselves with admirable peace and must be commended for their restraint and dedication. However, in some isolated instances, there have been reports of violence, leading to regrettable clashes and brutalities by the police. "I urge the protesters to maintain their peaceful stance and call on more Nigerians to show solidarity and support for the #EndBadGovernance peaceful protest. This is a pivotal moment for our collective voice to be heard, and it must be done with dignity and respect for the law. "I also call on the police to engage more professionally in managing these protests. The needless killing of innocent citizens by security agencies is unacceptable. The police must refrain from the molestation of journalists who are merely reporting the protest. It is imperative that security agencies exercise restraint while enforcing law and order." https://x.com/RishiSunak/status/1820132969513664691 https://x.com/PeterObi/status/1819477617357345115 https://x.com/atiku/status/1819341727666442388

Really? You are comparing protesters in the UK who at the end of the day will return to their homes where decent meals, decent accommodations and 24hrs electricity is waiting for them.Even when they get injured or arrested, they are taken to decent hospital or detention centers where they are well taken care of. Make una try get sense. Everything is not politics |

Op, the protest in the UK is violent yet no live bullet is released on the rioters whereas In Nigeria, even when the protest is peaceful, yet the police use force including teargas and live ammunition on the protesters. Even the Journalists who covers the protest were not soared the threat, some were injured and even a care belonging to a Journalist was ridden with bullets. Can you compare the scenario? |

LifestyleTonite:As a good observer, I know you saw that during the elections in UK, people stood at the poling stations and watched as the numbers changed on the scoreboard. The PM needed no soothsayer to tell him the people didn't want him. But in your country, INE lied that there was a glitch, which Amazon, their server host, said was a lie. Your president and every other Nigerian knew majority of Nigerians didn't want him, but yet he forced himself on the people. He bribed mamood to announce him as winner at 1am abi na 3am, then he bribed the election tribunal judges and supreme court judges to legitimize the electoral crime. You people like doing selective comparison. Ok, even as he "snatched" the seat, has he done anything but evil with the power? Tinubu is acting like himself and his gang of looters have only 9 months to strip Nigeria, they are almost halfway done, Nigeria will become miserable if they continue on this path of politics destruktion. |
