Lmao…my apologies zombie. There is no hunger in the land. Food is cheap. Fuel is free especially for zombies who have agreed to remove their brains and eyes to the reality on ground just to ensure they support tinubu. Once again I’m very very sorry. We pray for more of the good work tinubu has done so far 😁😁😁

One thing I know is that Wole Soyinka is beyond the level of being ‘bought' by any Nigerian government. He has gone through so much for this nation that I know he can never be in support of a failed government as most Obidients think. Some one that was imprisoned during military era for speaking his mind/visiting Odimegwu Ojukwu during the war would now be afraid of doing the same in a democratic setting. I understand that most Ibos/Obidients dislike him because he opposes their candidate.

I like the way you made your fantastic rebuttals there about the role that the iconic Professor Wole Soyinka played in bringing and supporting GEJ into power as a President of Nigeria which is indeed a FACT of history, but I disagree that the speech was "empty." It was NOT. It takes effective listening and reading to pick the key points up without confirmation bias. There were deliberate lootings of private businesses and destruction of public utilities especially in the far Northern states and Edo where a Church warehouse was raided with all the bags of rice stolen by unruly criminals so I can understand why Soyinka spoke about the use of live bullets, but the live bullets come as a last resort if the security agencies get almost overwhelmed like what happened in Kenya when youngsters invaded the Parliament building via the barricades and the police had to open fire on some of them.

Just like many Diasporans who were staying up to listen to the speech, I was getting impatient myself for the first 6 minutes because I expected him to hit the nail on the head, but the Nigerian President indeed touched on some of the major specifics which is the introduction of the cheaper CNG deployments and free or low-cost CNG kits for over 1 million commercial vehicles belonging to NURTW which is ongoing and would lower the cost of transportation of people and foods by over 60 percent. Lagos State too is set to launch 500 CNG and electric mass transit buses to lower the cost of transportation.

Already, I had read online last month that as of May 30, 2024 the mega NNPC CNG refill station in Lagos State had been launched and those whose cars and trucks had already been converted to dual CNG/PMS were already buying cheaper CNG fuel of N200 per standard cubic feet and the male and female drivers who were interviewed were happy at the extra savings made when compared to the more expensive PMS usage. So, the intention will be to use CNG to drive down hyperinflation because it's cheaper than even PMS. Price control mechanisms will have to be put in place to ensure that the market leaders drop the price of food items after all the NURTW vehicles all over Nigeria have been fully converted to CNG.

Since May 2024, up to 12 NNPC CNG refill stations had already been commissioned in Lagos and Abuja so it's clear that the government has been doing a lot to deploy the cheaper CNG and reduce inflation because the high cost of transportation is a major driver of hyperinflation in Nigeria.

The #4 Keypoint BELOW is what would bring down inflation with the cheaper CNG fuel station deployments and conversation of over 1 million commercial vehicles to use CNG.

If Dangote Petrochemical Refinery starts producing PMS in August 2024, any excess PMS or AGO that is produced will be exported to earn more FX for the Central Bank of Nigeria. Back in the late 1970s and early part of the 1980s when the refineries were working optimally with regular TAM every 2 years, Nigeria was exporting refined PMS and AGO before the military guys came in and allowed the refineries to get destroyed under their military dictatorships so as to allow they and their cronies to import PMS and diesel which turned these guys into overnight multimillionaires.

4. OIL AND GAS

“Our once-declining oil and gas industry is experiencing a resurgence on the back of the reforms I announced in May 2024 to address the gaps in the Petroleum Industry Act. Last month, we increased our oil production to 1.61million barrels per day, and our gas assets are receiving the attention they deserve. Investors are coming back, and we have already seen two Foreign Direct Investments signed of over half a billion dollars since then.”

“Fellow Nigerians, we are a country blessed with both oil and gas resources, but we met a country that had been dependent solely on oil-based petrol, neglecting its gas resources to power the economy. We were also using our hard-earned foreign exchange to pay for, and subsidise its use. To address this, we immediately launched our Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (CNG) to power our transportation economy and bring costs down. This will save over two trillion Naira a month, being used to import PMS and AGO and free up our resources for more investment in healthcare and education.”

“To this end, we will be distributing a million kits of extremely low or no cost to commercial vehicles that transport people and goods and who currently consume 80% of the imported PMS and AGO.”

“We have started the distribution of conversion kits and setting up of conversion centres across the country in conjunction with the private sector. We believe that this CNG initiative will reduce transportation costs by approximately 60 per cent and help to curb inflation.”
With respect to your constructive contribution, the speech failed to communicate and express the obvious to the common Nigerians. The common Nigerians want a short term solution to their grievance and the FG should have expressively state his plan to address the food shortage in the short term, though I understand that Mr. President is trying to be diplomatic enough.

By the way, just a grammatical exercise, does anyone think that this part: My primary concern, quite predictably, is the continuing deterioration of the state’s seizure of protest management, is a double negative, and in effect, prof is saying the opposite of his intended meaning? I ran it through ChatGPT and it's inclined to think the same, but is not 100% sure. It does agree that the meaning is not clear though. Just an academic exercise o. If you don't even begin to understand, pls feel free to refrain from involvement. smiley

Indeed, I agree with you there.

Most of the average Nigerian folks on the street level are largely semi-literates and would respond BETTER to you more when they get to see your practically demonstrate what you have to offer. Some of the uninformed protesters and their leaders in Abuja and Lagos whose videos I saw are saying that Tinubu should bring back fuel subsidy or they will NOT stop the protests but this is circular thinking and highly ridiculous because even Atiku and Peter Obi all said that they would remove fuel subsidy because it wasn't sustainable economically and the fuel subsidy had been DISCONTINUED before Tinubu became the President and this is the reason why fuel subsidy WASN'T captured in the Nigerian 2023 budget. The IMPORTANT thing is to give these Nigerians "bullet points of what you have to offer" from the get-go and this is why I also stated in my first reply to your post that for the first 6 minutes, I was getting really impatient with that speech because the Nigerian President wasn't hitting the nail on the head, BUT he later did by EMPHASIZING on the free 1 million CNG conversion kits for all commercial vehicles and the deployment of the cheaper CNG which would LOWER the cost of food and transportation in the short to medium-term.

That's the ONLY way that food prices will ever drop and it requires some patience by all for a period within the next 2 months by my estimation. From the feelers we are getting, it's NOT that there are "food shortages" for all crops, it's just that most Nigerian folks do NOT have disposable income to buy these highly priced foods due to hoarding and market manipulations that have led to artificial hyperinflation in several sectors.

Dangote Refinery would definitely start the PMS production this August of 2024 like the management and Aliko Dangote have promised with the cheaper CNG which are also already being deployed and in my estimation, things would normalise in 2 months with prices of goods and services dropping by 60 percent. [These are some of the additional information that I expect the Nigerian President and all the Nigerian Governors to convey to Nigerians]. There is a sense of urgency because when Nigerian protests last longer than 3 days from past history since 1989, they get hijacked by looters. I remember that since the 1989 anti-SAP riots during General Ibrahim Babangida's time which I witnessed, the violence and lootings have persisted in every Nigerian protest which are supposedly meant to be peaceful. The violence and LOOTINGS under the cover of protests in the North started right from the first day with the viral photograph of a criminal in Kano using a machete to destroy a brand new street light built with tax-payers money.

He was never dead he was just bidding his time to see if Tinubu know exactly what he was doing , if Tinubu meant well for the populace even with this message I believe he being a lot cautious not speaking directly to the failing of the Tinubu administration because no one knows what economic impact recovery or any possible verb is action my lead.

The long the evidence of Tinubu takes to materialize the more those supporting him will voice out concerns on such action this negates the extremely foolishness of the average Igbo obidient that want Tinubu condemned simply because they lost the election not minding is his action will have a y positive or negative action on the economy n the populace at large.
u are working for the evil north......creating enemies for tinubu at a time he needs the igbo to survive the onslaught.
Any wise Yoruba who want tinubu to at least survive will at this point make advances for a united south.
