Peperenpe has join Villarreal on a free transfer.
That dude has got to be the most useless signing in Arsenal

Max Downman…This kid is 14 and today against grown adults he totally dominated the ball. At 14 he did not look out of place physically and every time they tried to press, he always had a premeditated skill to beat the press. He is still a long ways away but he showed promise and never looked out of sorts. This upcoming season is going to be important. I hope we can help him get better without the ball defensively especially if he is going to be inside the box defending set pieces.

He was not bad, his price tag was. Havertz could have been another Pepe but Arteta effect. That was what Pepe lacked and he wasnt looking like who want to calm and learn.

Yeah, his price tag was his big undoing cos normally his performance was bad but personally sha, he can't be one of the worst.

Lol...
With respect to Price tag, maybe you're right cos he's the highest price tag compared to others, but in terms of performance and/or reputation before his coming, I don't think he's the most useless

Player’s performance is usually judged alongside their price tag, the guy didn’t justify his price tag with his performance.

Now list other players alongside their price tag and let’s compare with Peperenpe

I think contract negotiations has dived in last 5years. Covid effect or what? Cos how will someone like Frankie de Jong be on 600k weekly? From where to where?
How much did the Benzemas and Suarez and Di Marias, Iniesta, Messi, Neymar colet?? Barca sef. undecided

If it is about the wage structure, it is down to the clubs o. This wage stuff can destabilize a team o. And if you offer a player too much wage in his first contract, to negotiate a new one will be hard o. grin grin grin

Peperempe! Dis guy fall my hand like kilode.

He couldn’t handle the pressure of his price tag. He showed flashes but nothing consistent. Worsestill, I don’t think we had the luxury of time and that grossly affected his confidence.

I hope he can regain his confidence and thrive with Villarreal.

Lol... True. So true. grin

But personally Sha, I don't grade such a player as entirely useless cos Arsenal knew the risk involved and still went to buy him for a high fee. He has no reputation and was just one season wonder. That's why sha, I no too grade players on transfer fees.

If to say na prime Neymar or Salah or even Zaha (that we were initially linked to) we bought we that money and he flopped like Pepe, I would have grade him as a useless signing cos I would have expected more.

Personally, I see Willian signing as a more useless signing than Pepe but I understand your point fully grin cheesy

Like see what Bologna and Basel agreed on for Californi-a while we were trying to buy him over. 50%? Then the funny wages structure shows clubs no longer hold firm to sensible negotiations. The Mbappe power play at PSG too that year, etc.

Not just destabilize. But set nonsensical precedence. It's hilarious 😂

How na ? huh

Willian was a 32 year old signed on free transfer as a short fix for our attacking issues on the right-wing. How is his signing and time at Arsenal more usless than Pepe's ?

E be like say some fans just love that Pepe guy unnecessarily; the kind of love his performance for us doesn't deserve

Yea... PSG are always at the fore front. First, the Neymar transfer kinda raise the transfer fees beyond standard and now the Mbappe example you mentioned now. Credit to Edu and the club though for the job well done. Nothing like ridiculous salary and this has really helped when it is time to negotiate be contracts with the players.

Another thing is Arsenal don't block any other means the players could earn their own money (aside their wage). Like the image right of the players who are stars. I read that Arsenal give the players the 100% right. That's commendable too.

So.. I just read now that Sociedad is owing Merino some money (bonus and add-ons). The money reach like 5m and they want us to pay this money together with the transfer fees. If true, that's some audacity.

Willian? Here is what I think about his signing. He was a stop gap solution, Someone who was brought in to at least calm things in the squad while we start the rebuilding process. He is experienced and has played in EPL for years. Unfortunately, he couldn't keep up. Thank God he left peacefully.

Nothing spoil, as long as we net it off from the negotiated transfer fee plus extra commission for paying off their debt.

I expected more from Willian as a short fix cos I thought he'll give us at least two seasons (seeing that he wasn't really flopping at Chelsea when they moved him on) but Man was absolutely horrendous all round bar his first two matches. At a certain time he was irritating to watch.

Pepe on the other hand really underwhelmed but his first two seasons at least, he wasn't horrendous. I can remember our run towards the end of that season we won Fa cup under Arteta, he has some respectable run of form in performances. I remember once joking here that he Pepe will underwhelm throughout the season but once it reaches towards the end, he'll catch a bit of form and confuse person that he's picking up. I won't also forget he sometimes turns up in Europa.

Personally, I don't think he's totally useless for us.
