He is absolutly right, this applies not only to the british passport but to all european passports.
Even before this aggravated tension that is now happening in the UK where i am currently, this has always been my silent regret of my 3 decades plus abroad waka - having children who are more or less a lost generation . For a first generation emmigrant like myself, maintaining home ties and the eventiual relocation back to Nigeria is a very feasible and easy thing to do but for a second generation, a very difficult task to realise. Personally, i see this current japa trend as a negative development.

Having a Nigerian passport makes you a Nigerian by identity.
Having a British passport makes you British by identity.
Therefore, a country's passport makes you a citizen of that country by identity.

Whatever the OP is saying, is simply fallacious and misleading.

If your kids disconnect from their Nigerian roots, it is 100% your fault and has nothing to do with anything else.

British passport is for travelling ease not to assume heritage that you are not.

I think the op is trying to find something that isn't lost.

Having a British passport makes you a British citizen and not British. Everyone knows that. People just want to be citizens to get the privilege associated with it, who cares about being British ?

The only place on earth you have that sort of heritage is your own village not even your state capital except your state capital is your village.

Every town or city has indigenes that own that land. For example, if you live in Ibadan as someone from oyo state but not an indigene of Ibadan, it is not impossible for indigenes of Ibadan to chase out non indigenes even if they are from neighboring communities of the same state when there is an issue. So the only place where you are a king is only your village, you are a stranger everywhere else even in probably 90% of your own state.

So having a foreign passport just makes you a citizen but not an indigene. People just want to be citizens and not indigene cos you can't be one even if you want to

You are absolutely right on the issue of children born and breed in diaspora. Some of them with white mothers may eventually not come back to Nigeria.
Whenever I see Nigerian man married to a white woman I just feel a little sceptical.

Same reason I stuck on my decision on marrying a Nigerian (or African), I cannot be struggling to explain my roots to a lady who believes in eating mash potatoes and slice bread with spinach leaf on Christmas Day. The Brits hardly take their baths, they can go 2 weeks without getting into a bathroom.

I'm not having any of that bullshit way of life.
