It is not news that most of the Internet service providers in the country were compelled to meter their network speed resulting to slow internet browsing. This was to reduce the volume of contents shared online by protesters.

I have gotten a way out of this metered network.

If you are into tech, you must have known about this. The throttling is caused by the network DNS. You can navigate to your network settings and change your DNS to AdguardCloudflare DNS or Google DNS.

I expect banks techs to do this and save customers from all this complain of slow network in the bank.

For mobile phones, I was able to figure it out when you connect to a hotspot/wifi.

Press and hold your wifi icon till it open your wifi network settings. Tap on your connected wifi and tap on manage/Edit.

On IP SERVICES, change it to static.
Scroll down to DNS1 & DNS2 and change the values to Google DNS
8.8.4.4
8.8.8.8

OR AdguardCloudflare DNS
1.1.1.1
1.0.0.1

AdguardCloudflare DNS ALL THE WAY THOUGH.

For Android Phones,
Go to settings,
more connections
Private DNS
Private DNS Hostname

Use this

1dot1dot1dot1.cloudflare-dns.com

Should work.

If yours is not connecting, return your IP settings to DHCP.
Connect.
When successful, take note of your IP address and gateway. Copy them.
You can now go back to IP services and change it to static and replace your IP address and gateway with the ones you copied.
Save and connect.
Always do this when it stops connecting.
Network providers here randomises your IP address so they might change yours anytime.

If yours is not connecting, return your IP settings to DHCP.
Connect.

You can now go back to IP services and change it to static and replace your IP address and gateway with the ones you copied.

Changed to Adguard and upload went to 21mbps. I haven't seen such speed in 9 days now.

I don't think they can block DNS provider. They can only disconnect your Internet service.
If you still have active data subscription, and you are able to connect to Internet with DHCP IP settings, you can switch the DNS to Google DNS and check if it works for you. You can revert back to ADGUARD.
IF not, you have might have exhausted your data.

You can also check your data limit settings.

You can try this.
Go back to the wifi settings. Tap on forget network to reset it.
Connect to the wifi network again using default DHCP.
On the connected wifi, scroll down till you see the IP address and default gateway address. Copy this and use it in the static IP settings.
But before you do, tap on forget network again so that the settings will reset.
Then proceeded with the configuration.
I noticed the ISP reshuffles the IP so you can only connect with the IP address on their system.
My observation.

I have not used Iphone.

But You can try this.

Tap settings, then, at the top it says “WI-FI CONFIGURATION”. There are two boxes to type the Wi-Fi name and the password. Directly under those, there is “> ADVANCED”. Tap on that, then tap the toggle for “Custom DNS”. There, you can enter a primary and secondary DNS server

If it doesn't start working immediately, allow it for at least 1 minute so the DNS can point to Adguard network.

MTN network issue has been resolved since on the 11th. I am getting 200Mbps+ on 4G and 500Mbps+ on 5G.
