I couldn't take my eyes off this while reading. What masterpiece.

I 100% agree with this analysis, it succinctly dissected the outcome of the protest and what to take home.

Thank you sir.

Brilliantly penned article. MODS please move this piece to the front page to clear all the senseless narratives about the recent #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests for which some demented fellas tried in futility to demonised the Igbo race. Nigeria is a glued forced but failed contraption.
You took the snippet concerning you, highlighted it like the whole article was about Ibos. This exactly is the problem with folks like you.

With the way Yorubas are misbehaving towards the igbos, something big is coming and Lagos might just be the sacrificial lamb. Yorubas didn't make Lagos what it is today , Igbo tax payers did.
See this one. I'm sure you've never left your hut for once.

This is a very stupid post; why do Yoruba people have so much self-hatred?

Yoruba hate Tinibu like every other ethnic group in the country; Tinubu has done significant cultural and political damage to the Yoruba people. Our first elected president is a drug dealer.

I think the Igbo should have protested against their local governors in the SE. I hope Nigeria is undergoing a regional restructuring; the country is now beyond repair.

What a perspective!

Shame on those who lure others into their myopic school of thought that agbado is a yoruba thing that should not be eaten. Unfortunately many of them are very hungry and will never find a place on a table that has only been prepared for Akpabio and the wicked one who has done well for himself to Wike his wife to the court of appeal.

This author selected facts to support his pre made conclusion. Education and economic status are better than tribe for predicting behavior of Nigerians.

Rich folks and traders stayed home, the opposition politicians and the hungry came out to protest.

What exactly did the disgraced druglord achieve? A coward that was hiding in his room whilst protesters reigned supreme at his doorstep?

Where was this writer during the protest? Hiding like other Agbado leaders?

Tinubu has lost Northern votes.
That was why the protest begun and its goal was achieved.

Brilliantly penned article. This was the trademark investigative journalism the SW was known for in the time of old especially NEWSWATCH, PUNCH, TELL, TRIBUNE and VANGUARD until toxic fellas like Bayo Onanuga, Sam Omatseye, Reuben Abati came on board.

"For many of these ‘Hallelujah’ groups, it doesn’t matter if Tinubu performs in office or not as long as it is a Yoruba man that is there! They don’t care if or not their man would be leaving behind any legacy. These are the set of people (very many of them hungry and beggarly), who have taken the “Èmilókán” campaign to a level that no matter how fatuous a government policy is, as long it is Tinubu that initiated it, ‘all true sons and daughters of Yorubaland’ must embrace it!"

This remains the disappointment of many who expected more from a region once touted to be intellectually above equals. Since Tinubu, I think the problem of most Yorubas is more of morality than education. It's hard not to think majority of them hold the view described above, and it's getting worse everyday (if we go by what we see online). SMH!

Igbo would actually watch Nigeria born from afar and do nothing. Their own son has been held in captive for God knows how long, and in a Super-glued country which the Igbo's should call home, they are being threatened in a market they made famous in Africa. In Igbo's grew the economy in Lagos. We Yoruba's just turned tax collectors. Collection money for the same land that they are already paying rent for. Its just pathetic.

We now know that when people are hungry over there in the North, anything becomes edible. Computers now taste like masara (maize). Furniture tastes like tuwo shinkafa delicacies. Concrete slabs and iron rods are jollof rice spices.

One of the ‘protesters’ in Kano carried a placard with the inscription that the price of ‘weed’ (Indian Hemp) should be reduced. I agreed with him. Once one is dazed, hunger will no longer be felt!

The average Yoruba man is hypocritical by nature. The same Yorubas who have been in a political romance at the expense of other ethnic groups and region, are now trying to get sympathy from other regions when it appears the north has taken a stand against Tinubu's govt. The writer has suddenly realise that Igbos are a rare breed and he considers to be wiser and better than the people in the north.

The writer and his ethnic hypocrites should never think other regions will be fooled by this sudden praise singing for the Igbos. If the north wants to bring down Tinubu's govt or decide not to support his re-election bid in 2027 so be it. We will sit and be watching as the drama unfolds. Igbos will never support or form any alliance with Yorubas because they can never be trusted. Afonjas are always afonjas
