Define “non-Nigerian”? If she’s a Nigerian citizen regardless of parentage, she’ll be accepted as one of us, and we would be glad if she contests.

That is the issue. She is not non-SA. She has a SA citizenship and has all citizenship right and previledge. She was even born in SA. She only have a Nigerian descendants. This is common. People come from other places. If we trace everybody ancestry, they descended from other places. Back to your question- this is not a question really. Many contestants in Nigeria’s pageant are half Nigerians and some have won. There are even half Nigerians contesting in Miss Japan. Beauty queen pageant is the most inclusive activity and SA failed her own citizen. How can the girl ever feel safe in her own country. You outcasted your own citizen because of her heritage. It’s a shame

The mere fact of being born in South Africa does not confer citizenship on you. You have to have been born in the country with one or both your parents holding South African citizenship or you have to have acquired it by descent or by naturalization. Her mothers identity of which she acquired citizenship is in question.

On a psychological basis, She is South African being born and raised in that environment.

South Africans have a feeling of being overrun by immigrants and this feeling is only getting worse as the years go bye. It is a dangerous boiling kettle at a phase where it will explode at some point in the future if not managed by the government.

When you say "non-Nigerian" what exactly do you mean?
If you read the post you would see that Chidinma is a born South African who is being looked down on because her father is Nigerian. I can boldly tell you that Nigerians would have no problem with a South African born Nigerian going for Miss Nigeria.

You do know that Nigerian ethnicities have been interbreeding long enough where if you were to take DNA tests on them you would not be able to differentiate who is Igbo, Efik, Yoruba or Edo
