MrSly:
You don't need to convince me. Deal with your believe as I deal with mine. God exists.
You wouldn't have quoted me in the first place if you did what you suggest I do, so stop preaching to me what you don't practise.

This thread is not about the belief of either of us.

MrSly:
You don't know the mind of God. So you don't have to speak for him. The problem of Nigeria is bad leadership, it is people's oriented not divinely orchestrated. God is not in the habit of doing for men what men can ordinarily do for themselves. So God knows Nigeria but we inflict hardship with bad and inefficient leadership manured by tribal and religious fanatism.
See that bolded above?

Now read the bolded below and tell me why it meant "God sinned" to you.

budaatum:
Its like the Gods have decided to add to the hunger.

Is it because we are a sinful nation I wonder.

Just asking, how do arabian countries or foreign countries that have very scanty rain feed?

For learning purposes
They import most of their food and some use irrigation to grow vegetables and fruits

There's drought presently in some states in Nigeria, many farmers are crying because of the seizure of the rain which is affecting their crops.

As a farmer, how are you coping and which measures have you taken?
Irrigationhuhhuh??

August break since April? Most of you will just open your month wide and talk on something you know nothing about. Those crops you see there have not seen good rain fall since April/May.

Why didn't farmer complain for many years and just this year. You think the farmer will be affected more? Na you weh go buy their crops for market go suffer am. A bag of rice at 150k loading.
Hmn. We should not exploit each other due to this period of rain not falling. Farmers should consider the suffering masses. Some crops like Sorghum, Millet and Cassava do not need too much inputs or fertilizers. And they also do well during droughts. So, why are they expensive in the markets? Why?

I'm not coping. I need divine help. My farm is dry.

Nigerian farmers depend mainly on nature to farm, yet they sell at expensive rates like they use some expensive technology.

No matter what any government does to fix the economy if they don't add price regulation policy , Nigerians will still rubbish their work
Oga go and farm now! The farmer also wants to send his children to school, be able to afford good quality healthcare services and live a good quality life like everyone else. Why should he duck under the sun several times all year round only to sell cheap to you? Kai!

Sir, you have to understand how these things work. I swear, farmers are not the problem of high cost of food, merchants are. Come to the North, farmers sell their crops at a very cheap rate to these merchants, they(merchants) store these crops , create artificial scarcity and sell at a high cost.

All the times/years that u don't make losses, does it reflect in the price(s).

Everyone will look for excuses for their greed
It's actually people that want the price of agricultural produce to be controlled by government are the greedy and selfish ones. Your government doesn't support farmers, a farmer risks his life, savings and peace of mind to farm and you want to dictate to him how to dispose of his produce sad... like I said earlier, go and farm first before you start criticising farmers. You should be grateful that you are even seeing commodities to buy.

And by the way, when there's abundant harvest it naturally reflects on the market... market forces. In that case, a farmer has no choice but to dispose of his produce at the "right price". The problem we are having is due to insecurity and gross mismanagement by your government.

Then the South should take Agriculture seriously, so that we can stop depending on the North for the food we eat. Let the merchants go and eat the grains they buy by themselves. They can't continue exploiting the Southerners. We can also plant Millet, Guinea Corn and Maize on millions of hectares here in the South.

Not funny at all this year. The drought is getting out of hand, as there is no rain for weeks now.
Nigerians should just prepare for famine next year.

Your farm must be only family size farm and not commercial farm for you to have time to be manually wetting it.

Where had price regulation worked
You haven't learnt from Murtala, fuel scarcity and foreign exchange debacle
You now stupidly want to extend the foolishness to food?
Do you think before typing
Do you not realize correlation between price demand and supply. You cannot touch one without affecting the others

Many Nigerians especially those in the South do not know what is really happening, truth is that food inflation will increase by more than 300 percentage next year. Almost 50 percentage of crops in the agricultural areas of North are dying due to the lack of rainfall.

Nigerians should brace up. Even importation of food cannot change the impending hunger.
How will importation not solve it?

It's like you have never been to farm before. What should a rice farmer do with the warning? Stop farming?

Rice needs steady rain of 3 months, and then there is no rain, so farmers should not farm?
A farmer should use data to his advantage and not be ignorant

May God Come to our Rescue it's so pathetic, the weather pattern has become so unpredictable, Areas that hardly get rain are experiencing flooding while area that use to have abundant rain are experiencing drought.. this is quite unfortunate and I urge every farmers whose farm is been affected by flood or by drought to call on God for devine intervention

When there is a global food crisis, how does importation solve the problem? Other African countries will also struggle to import, then there will be shortage of food in the importing countries.
