UK's sentencing to crimes are so so so lax. Stealing is at least 5 years in Nigeria. This is just a slap on the wrist to be honest.

The guy knew police were after him, there are cameras everywhere and he was not using mask so he was just having fun. He wasn't armed and didn't injure his victims. To sentence him they had to establish the fact that his action has significant impact on his victims. Two years imprisonment is enough.

The court is not an emotional place. A criminal will the sentenced based on the weight of the crime and not some emotional tears as you would want.

20 months is a lot considering he is just a phone snatcher

What alternative do you suggest..?
Personally I don't think he should have been sent to prison rather he should have been made to pay for the phones and fined whilst doing community service like cleaning toilets
