Team Nigeria received the reallocation of a slot in the road event THERE IN PARIS after they had left Nigeria.

It was THERE, at the Olympics, that they were offered the slot, PLUS it takes MONTHS to deliver those road race bicycles even if you order them.

It’s not something you can just pop into a shop and buy, not least because they also needed to be certified after purchase by the Olympics technical committee - another long process etc etc.

So the ONLY OPTION available to the Nigerian cyclist was to either BORROW a road race bike and contest an Olympics event, or decline the offer to contest.
