How you name yourself (in this case, going around with your justice-papa's name dangling around your neck) isn't a part of how you conduct your life? Abi if you see a tiger going around screaming "I'm a tiger, I'm a tiger,", won't you find it distasteful?

You ran away from the question but you are now back to it. You are implying that he named himself that way in order to show off and I asked you how you know why he named himself that way and you've been running away from the question.

The way these things work, it's highly unlikely. I doubt he'd be a supreme court judge when the kid was born and our people usually just do these to show off when they've acquired "the name". In any case, the blame goes to whoever named him. Poor Hakeem.

For the record, people give themselves their parents' name for a variety of reasons.

Larry Echiejile is a famous broadcaster. His father was not famous. He renamed himself Larry Izamoje when his father died. Izamoje was his father's name.

I have a friend who gave himself his mother's name when she died. He did it to honour her. She was not famous.

Actually, I've defended my position. He either named himself or someone did. If you really mean WHY he named himself, you're just being silly. Ask me if I know why naptu named himself.

I said someone would make a good governor because he was the best cabinet minister sometime past. I'm not campaigning or anything - just a post on a forum. Why does this rile you up so much? Saying you'd start out distrusting someone isn't even saying the person is bad and may be more about you than the person. I'll never understand human beings.

So? For the record, anyone can give themself their mother-in-law's name. Yes, some people adopt their father's first name as their middle name (e.g., Shehu Musa Yar'Adua, Naptu Napti Maptu). I could see this and banter on NL that he's probably showing off, but I'm sure the person won't care what I think. What Naptu2 (SAW) doesn't know is that there are accepted ways of writing names and that hyphenating your father's first name with his surname to form a compound is non-standard.

BTW, I knew the name of the President's private secretary. Not recognising "HMO" doesn't mean I don't. I just didn't knew he was being prepped or rumoured prepped for Lagos House.
