Team Nigeria received the reallocation of a slot in the road event THERE IN PARIS after they had left Nigeria.

It was THERE, at the Olympics, that they were offered the slot, PLUS it takes MONTHS to deliver those road race bicycles even if you order them.

It’s not something you can just pop into a shop and buy, not least because they also needed to be certified after purchase by the Olympics committee - another long process etc etc.

So the ONLY OPTION available to the Nigerian cyclist was to either BORROW a road race bike and contest an Olympics event, or decline the offer to contest.

We can have an athtete who represents Nigeria in skiing and bobsled. For the 2024 Olympic he qualified for skiing but not Bobsled event.

He takes his ski along because him and his nation assume that is the only event he is partaking in.

On getting to the Olympics a Bobsled competitor is disqualified and the Nigerian athlete asked to replace him.
