1. Since the same last year, the Naira has been devalued and now goes for about Naira1600 to a dollar, an environment which has proven unconducive for foreign investors to help rectify the problems of electricity generation even at the State level. So, what should the poor Nigerian people do or who should they hold responsible for that? undecided

2. Pockets of places in a country with at least 65 million households & businesses combined with 24-hour power supply, all this from the measly 5600KW epileptic capacity the country has been battling with for decades now? Who do you this thing abeg? undecided
that 1600 is the true value of your currency if you don't like it go to ghana.......and if electricity is your problem and you don't want to pay for it build your own power plant and sell the excess after all there are many doing same all over the country....in fact I moved some of my businesses to Ogun to connect to an off grid power plant so you can do the same......

Basically, the people are there to fend for themselves after all, right? The government has in the last 25 consecutive years failed to provide the environment for the people and jobs to thrive. You will note that to this very day, not a single community, LGA, or even State in the nation can boast of at least one of the following essential amenities which as a collective constitute an environment for jobs to exist in this 21st century era we live in.
■ Electricity
■ Clean Water Supply
■ Sewage
■ Good Roads(roads built by the ancient Romans thousands of years ago are still very much available to this day)
■ Passenger Rail
■ Security
■ Reliable internet and mobile services
■ Waste Management
■ Strong healthcare system
■sturdy educational & training System
■a Welfare/Social system
■ Pro-business & pro-people policies...

But somehow you choose to believe that it is the people, and not the government to blame for it all. Very interesting, I must say! undecided

I don't see the sense in offering student loans to students in a country where the vast majority of graduates are without jobs. It just does not make sense of any kind. undecided
I know you always reason with your anus, but don't you think you need to save your family from embarrassment sometimes, don't think people don't know you. We know who you are and we also know your family.

I want to pray for some people here, so please say amen if it concerns you:

1. Anyone, I say anyone, who appreciated the student loan initiative and still continue to appreciate it because of his/her deep understanding of the benefits of the initiative for the beneficiaries and the country in the short and long term will live to reap the fruit of their endeavors in Jesus name. Amen.

2. Anyone, I say anyone, who criticized the student loan initiative and still continue to criticize it because of hatred for the president and then still applied for the loan or a member of his family applied for the loan or plan to apply for the loan will not live to enjoy the benefits of the initiative. Infact the negatives they wish for the country will befall them and their family. Amen.

Remember to say amen to whichever one applies to you.

That... first, I'm not sir in anyway; doesn't pander to me, plus you may even be older than I am or we're age-like.
Okay, I don't have much though... Can you manage 1k? If yes, drop Aza. I know it can barely do a thing but can't afford much. Also, it can't sustain you at all. You've gotta have some plans to forge ahead. Why not draw some plans? If you don't mind my suggestions:

1. Why not take up free courses on coursera on in-demand skills?
2. Why not take the nelfund loan? They pay your school fees and you get 20k stipends?
3. Why not take up some relevant vocational skills around—plumbing, POP, Welding, Mechanic, Solar engineering e. t. c (never barbing or tailoring though)? You could be proficient enoug in either of them to make some dough. Yet, with sound knowledge, you take up internationally recognized vocational exams, you can easily japa with them than the average japa aspirant.

Note: Whatever vocational skill you're learning, it's important to learn and understand the business part of it—that's how all these Igbo guys make money through business, not the artisanry itself.
4. This will be the best recommendation from me, fella—whatever you can do to make the best of grades you could from the university, do it! Almost all my friends with good grades outta the the university are overseas on sponsored visa and living really good because they made best grades.

Never listen to 'school na scam' crooner or people like Gerrard59 who scoff at good grades as a pedestrian for life successes. Walai na lie! Most recent and unlikeliest of cases I know of: a guy studied Anatomy—the course I rate so low for its stifled economic opportunities—and scooped first class, took some administrative/politics/sporting roles in his department and he barely finished his service before he got overseas calling, to the Wests. Second class uppers are winning too; just add up lots of vital extracurricular activities, especially ones that weave in leadership. I bet it'll be smooth after school for you.
🙏🙏🙏🙏. Great counsel

It makes a lot of sense but payment is going to be an issue. This scheme will die naturally.
Will people benefit from it?
That's the first question, once it is answered, it is good to go.
Sometimes I don't understand what u people want, today u will say u want what people can benefit from, once it comes, u start kicking against it.

It means that you’ll prefer that indigent students should not further their studies, until they can afford to do so or until jobs are available.
You have forgotten that preparation always precede opportunities, because you cannot predict when and where opportunities will come knocking.
what opportunities? The same universities that go on strike annually? With the quality of education in Nigerian universities, would you employ a civil engineering graduate to oversee your building project? Even dangote had to import Indians to work in his refinery despite the vast number of engineering graduates that will eagerly do the job for a fraction of the amount he pays the Indians. The entire system needs an overhaul not political student loans

You are right in a way. However, there are different classes and sizes of businesses, and not every business should require a humongous amount of money to run. In an unfavorable environment, it’s tough for small businesses to thrive. A lot has changed in Nigeria; presently, to set up even the smallest barber shop, you will need a standby generator. When you factor in the prices of petrol and a generator set, you will realize that a school leaver from a poor background may not be able to establish and run such a business profitably. And this applies to many small businesses that used to be easy to setup and run.
The only thing you can talk about is that capital is not readily available to people who don't have access to personal or family funds, not ranting about "enabling environment".
The barber shops in several places are run by who?
Rich people from rich homes?

Tinubu can do all that but he can foolishly come n crash naira, watch foolishly herdsmen killing, increase custom duty, increase electric tariff, increase bank taxes without consulting governor yet you want him to become president n go to sleep.

Your like do more hard to Tinubu than even the obidient.

benji93:
Tinubu must do all this? Your state governors only need to collect allocations, do as they please, and wait for the next election cycle?

Baba, I remember mid last year you were mocking people with high grades, arguing its not a pointer for career success—like it doesn't usually translate for most of them, and all that.
We had the discourse during the jamb announcement and brouhaha. Remember?

Are you hoping for someone to graduate and 3 years after graduation don't have anything doing?
One of the key functions of education is teach the recepient productivity, someone who can't be productive in any form is not worth educating, the loan makes alot of sense.
Tuition fees were hiked, subsidies pulled out, this loan makes alot of sense.
grin grin grin

See how you are blowing useless grammer as if you comprehend what you talking about..

I have told you folks like you have nothing upstairs grin grin grin

How many of the so called educated ones have been able to use their education for production purposes in Nigeria ?

Do the government you have been supporting since 2015 believe in productivity ? What infrastructures have the government you have been fraudulently supporting since 2015 until this day put in place to support those who have already gotten the education. Do you know how many Nigerians are qualifiied & educated ? grin grin grin

What do you produce with your own emilokan education. Sitting on the Internet & dishing out propaganda lies & deceit for fraudulent election riggers grin grin grin grin

Everytime you hear loan you support grin ;DWhere are tgey getting the loans to give ? grin grin fröm borrowed loans also & not from prodction. grin grin

That is the easiest way to loot the borrowed loans so at least your emilokan stipend is sure

I did not mock people with high grades, rather I praised them. See why I said you should have read it twice before replying me? My aim with that thread was to assess whether high JAMB scores translate to a high CGPA and a thriving career. As we saw, it does to an extent. In fact, I have conducted a newer search with WAEC scores and the findings are even more revealing. They have flourishing careers as of today. If not Nairaland anti-spam bot, I should have uploaded the information. I aim to check the trajectory so that we can authoritatively state that good grades lead to a comfortable life later on.
