QUOTE: “It’s a way of robbing the innocent Nigerians. The millers did not consider our call for price reduction but rather advised us to inflate the price of bread more to inflict pain and hardship on the common man, which is an inhumane action to take."That's Nigerians for you. The bad ones always having their way over the few good ones. Our myopic selfishness is what got us where we are today. We see our wickedness, greed and selfishness daily on the streets, churches, mosques, market places, airports, yet we expect the few who made it to government power to be dominated by saints? It's not happening, a new orientation from individual families is the way and this is a long journey. Any other approach is mere palliative. |

They should better halt the protest, because the more protest the more price of goods increases. The protest is making no impact. |

Beremx:You need to protect your local farmers by disallowing different foods being dumped on us.....if you were to allow foreign rice unimpeded for instance, you will kill local businesses who are already into farming and processing, jobs would be lost, investments will be lost. Also we have limited availability of Forex and introducing this policy without some control can further worsen the already bad Forex rates. This policy will surely drive down prices of rice, wheat and maize but we can't sacrifice our economic interest for popular opinion. Don't just criticise without having a good hang of any topic |

“This constant increase in the price of flour by millers has made it impossible for bakeries to operate and function smoothly which has also led to the shutdown of many bakeries and their staff being laid off. Lives are at stake when basic needs are scarce. Nigerians complain daily due to a lack of basic needs for survival and bread is one of them. The flour millers are mounting pressure on human beings unnecessarily.”All these workers being laid off from many sectors of the economy, what's is being prepared for them elsewhere by the govt of content creation? |

Lithiumite:Protecting local farmer dont always work out well. There are strong-willed middlemen who unionize to milk farmers and consumers from one end to another. We saw that in a thread few weeks back when market women resisted on of their colleagues who was selling at lower price in Kwara state. They sell at intl market price. Controlled opening of the local market to foreign goods is better than total shutdown or opening. Have you wondered why food items that are majorly consumed in nigeria have been the most expensive? Cassava, Yam are exceptionally higher in price. |

lexylaw40kuti:The currently crop of leaders are nothing but partisan and politically irredeemable clowns. The season we are is when food prices normally starts crashing due to harvest. It has been happening for ages and I find it odd that those clowns and content creating morons will choose that time of the year to grant a silly waiver instead of looking at why food prices aren't crashing down enough to ease sufferings of the hungry. What they specialize in is taking undue credits for any perceived positive change happening or about to happen just to look competent. |

The government may have to remove restrictions on the importation of flour, sugar, cement etc Granting import licences to just a few companies have not worked for consumers since Obj era. Those few that are able to import just take advantage by increasing prices as they like. Stop licences. Allow everyone who want to import to do so. Fierce competition will bring down prices. That's why I laugh at those who want the government to put all it fuel future in the hands of Dangote refinery, as if the duopoly in rhe cement sector has helped Nigerians. |

Bobloco:Infact OP did not give the correct information regarding the price difference. About 10 years ago, a bag of flour went for approximately 4,000:00 (four thousand naira only), depending on the flour brand. It is easily verifiable with any old baker or flour dealer. Exactly one year ago, a bag of flour went for about 48,000:00, depending on the brand. Tinubu appeared and everything went haywire. Infact, flour has become scarce with many distributors unable to receive products, not to talk of selling to retailers. A bag goes for between 66K and 68K. We all know the story of eggs in the market. The minimum for a crate of eggs now is 4,500:00, with some selling a crate of eggs for 6,000;00. Please help us beg Tinubu and all APC supporters to have mercy on the country. How can they keep telling us that IGR increased and yet we cannot find value with the increase? We can no longer get our favorite meatpies at good rates. Good meatpies now are priced at 1,000 and above. Even our favorite soft drinks are fast become a mirage, with a bottle of coke going for 400 naira. Wetin we do APC abeg? |

Since Tinubu became president, why have do we continually have fuel scarcity ? Fuel is expensive and scarce. Omo, this is no longer funny o. Longest and worse fuel scarcity since I was born and this man does not talk about it or tell us when it would be resolved. Like, Tinubu supporters here, when will Ur leader fix this ? |
