Food importation is not an email that gets delivered on same day. It will take sometime for the waiver to have full impact on the prises of food
weyrey they come with all kinds of grammatic theories to justify act of wickedness, a govt whose modus operandi to make life better for the people is solely via propaganda and empty promises

Every good policy that deems to favor the masses always take time we should wait for years but what will favour those blood criminials called politicians reflect goodies instantly

when you take time to read what the useless control general publish about Tinubu waiver ... you understand these govt is purely evil they are hell bent on making life difficult for Nigeria

those that will meet the criteria for the waivers are the same big players holding the nation hostage

The bakers are trying to be honest... Bread is still relatively cheap compared to other food.

Protecting local farmer dont always work out well. There are strong-willed middlemen who unionize to milk farmers and consumers from one end to another.
We saw that in a thread few weeks back when market women resisted on of their colleagues who was selling at lower price in Kwara state. They sell at intl market price. Controlled opening of the local market to foreign goods is better than total shutdown or opening. Have you wondered why food items that are majorly consumed in nigeria have been the most expensive? Cassava, Yam are exceptionally higher in price.
The major reason for high food prices is inadequacy......we simply aren't producing enough also our agric economy is badly skewed to the detriment of the real local farmers......all this is due to lack of adequate investments by govt and relevant stakeholders,we have no reason to still be practicing subsistent farming....we have one of the lowest land productivity ratios 8n whe world comparatively.

All these problems have been there for decades and cannot be wished away by hating tinubu or obi.

When I said that removing import duty on rice would not have any effect on the price as the economy is now, some people were quoting to disagree with me.
This is the same thing that is happening now to flour.
Unfloating the Naira is the only thing that would make an impact on the Nigerian economy right now. Not all these cut and join policies.

There's no government in this country. A big country like this shouldn't be struggling with bread and rice and garri.

Such a shame.

Price of bread I normally buy has increased by almost N500 within the space of about a month. Very odd, they said the price of flour keeps going up on a daily basis. If by some miracle the price of flour comes down, will they bring down the price of bread? I don't think so

This his the very sad reality, yet we still celebrate our oppressors because they are our tribes and religion
Just like AntiChristian supports the CPC/-led APC, because they claim to represent radical Islam.
Meanwhile , their children and fathers do everything haram, drink, smoke, fornicate, while the sheep starve to death happily because...Allah Knows Best.

The government may have to remove restrictions on the importation of flour, sugar, cement etc

Granting import licences to just a few companies have not worked for consumers since Obj era. Those few that are able to import just take advantage by increasing prices as they like.

Stop licences. Allow everyone who want to import to do so. Fierce competition will bring down prices.

That's why I laugh at those who want the government to put all it fuel future in the hands of Dangote refinery, as if the duopoly in rhe cement sector has helped Nigerians.
Dangote has been a curse to Nigeria. We need several millionaires and not one huge monopolist billionaire.

Honestly, I no longer buy bread again.
I wasn't even eating it regularly since 2015, because I observed that once I ate a full loaf, I would start having malarial symptoms. I kept thinking it was the bromate inside.

Now, I don't care.
But truth be told, I miss the bread of 99-2005. Only God knows what happened to bread in Nigeria.

The problem we have here is the will power to enforce policies as well as the influence of the few on every government agencies.

Imagine the kind of guidelines or conditions the Customs is introducing for participants in the food importation which is meant to drive down food inflation and hunger. How many mills in Nigeria can process 100 tonnes of rice per day?

They're merely promoting their "master's" businesses.
where did they put these guidelines
