Maybe he didn't know that one could rent a room in a house or even rent a studio or one bedroom flat for less money.

New York is expensive but the pay is also high ie a job that will pay you $60k a year in Midwest will have you earning about $120k in NY city so it balances out and now left for you to make a choice on where you prefer to stay

How much does a motel/hotel room cost for 24hrs? Most small hotel rooms cost less than $100 per night. But you guys just believe lies without doing your research!

Your search might be just NY but narrow it down to the city and the prices will shock you…Queens, Bronx and all those areas frequented by tourists are usually very expensive when you book at short notice. There was a time I booked for short notice in DC and couldn’t find anywhere less than $200 and when you add the hidden charges and taxes it will push it close to $250 at time of payment and and I have encountered it many times even in Minneapolis that’s famed to be cheap so the secret to cheaper bookings is in planning your trip early way ahead of time

I don't blame anyone who made the move or who is planning to make the move. Just be sure that you do thorough research about your plan and be sure this is your best option.

Also, make sure you don't fall into the hands of a con artist.

A lot of people made the move because they were concerned about their future and that of their kids because nothing in this country is stable.

Furthermore, the value of naira is zero; $1000 is currently worth over 1.5 million naira.

Maybe the guy was a tourist then.in new York one of the most expensive cities in USA my first year I was paying 750usd per month all inclusive. Which is like 25 usd my food and transportation was like another 25usd and I was earning 210 per day after tax.
